During the post fight press conference, 50 barely talked about Gamboa's performance and instead talked about moving up to 135 soon and fighting Broner. Of course this is a fight we'd all love to see but after Gamboa's lackluster performance, he needs more fights at 130 before moving up to 135 and facing Broner but 50 doesn't seem to care, he just wants to rush Gamboa into a big fight whether he's ready or not.
He should fight Salgado at 130 or Vazquez at 135 next.
Salgado, Uchiyama, Martinez, any of those guys. I trust Yuri isn't going to look so rusty in his next outing. And he'll be a lot more serious about fighting top-three material. No doubt in my mind Gamboa will quickly demonstrate he belongs at the top of the heap at 130. The real question is whether he can show he belongs at the top of '35. That's starting to push the envelope....
50 Cent I can tell really don't know much about the Current Top Fighters Today...he is just throwing out names! Soon he will challenge Wlad or Vitali for Gamboa
I think 50 is going to do very well as a Promoter, I seen a lot of websites who never talk about boxing talking about 50 Cent and his Fighter which is a good thing...but the MATCH MAKING is going to be a Problem, he has to get a Top WELL RESPECTED Match Maker for this SMS thing to work
Him just talking through the Media and trying to land Big Fights WON'T WORK! Gotta have that guy that can respectfully reach out to GBP and other Promotions to start talks about fights, if it is him calling on his own it is not going to work, he needs like a partner or something
He seems to think he is going to be the next GBP over night and is trying to rush everything. Buying half a gym without thinking about the consequences of only owning half of it. Buying out Gamboa for 1.2 million and then later realizing oh **** its going to take forever to break even on him, better get him a huge fight soon.
When DLH formed GBP he already had a superstar fighter in himself and a huge network which made it easy to bring on guys like hopkins, mosley, barrera ect.
I don't think this a cash out move by 50. IMO it seems more like a risk taking move from that stand point they both want the fast money and willing to throw caution to the wind. 50 not trying to slow this boxing thing he is trying to get all the money he can get as fast as he can get it. No matter if his fighters win or lose. He probably feels Gamboa can beat Broner and whether he does or not he still gets paid. Gamboa will still fight on win or lose.
Damn Broner beats a slow ass, lanky mofo that moves like a praying mantis... and dudes ain't giving Gamboa a chance
I'm not saying Gamboa has no chance, I'm saying it's not good for his career to rush him into that fight. He needs at least 1 or 2 more fights at 130 or 135 to get more polished and acclimate himself to the weight.
He needs to get that rust off and a World Class trainer. He looked directionless in the fight.
Why isn't he working with Floyd Sr seeing as Floyd works his stablemate Dirrell? Stupid as hell.
Who cares if 50 wants to cash out, after seeing Gamboa dropped by a 40-1 underdog, he probably knows Gamboa isn't going 50-0. I think he has a good shot (Broner hasn't really fought anyone yet). Let's see what Gamboa does in his next couple of fights before we talk a super fight. It would be a fan friendly fight either way.
Gamboa is still a quality fighter but he is not a guy you can build a stable around, none of the guys with 50 are that sort. So he has to take a risk like that to make Gamboa worth more to perhaps be that kind of guy or just cut his loses and move on. The faster either one of those things happens for 50 the better for him.
Boxing is a very hard game to make it work and the way 50 started out made it essentially impossible but Gamboa could possibly make some things happen for him and beating a guy like Broner would put such a process on the fast track.
yeah 50 must dont care about gamboa life. He will get hurt vs broner. Wouldnt even be competitive
50 just don`t know much about the boxing game cause he havn`t really studied it and he lack experience. What 50 should do is encourage Gamboa to get a better trainer to fix up his defense and improve his skill, then he should make a Rios vs Gamboa fight since Rios is a much bigger ticket seller then Broner and much easier to beat then Broner plus Gamboa and 50 would make more money in that fight. Then if Gamboa wins him and 50 can make even more money for a Broner fight cause Gamboa would have increased his fan-base with the win over Rios.
I don't even know if Oscar (GB) would work with 50 Cent after what he said on twitter.
And 50 Cent is basically affiliated with Top Rank, and we all know their history.
Stupid move Broner is too big, just get the belt 50
WBA champion Takashi Uchiyama vs WBA Interim Yuriorkis Gamboa on April 20th Rios/Pacman, Marquez/Bradley undercard..
Damn Broner beats a slow ass, lanky mofo that moves like a praying mantis... and dudes ain't giving Gamboa a chance....if anything Broner needs to get a few in before facing Gamboa! Who has Broner fought so far that has the speed, footwork and experience (albeit amateur) of Gamboa? I don't see Broner reacting well to being touched up a lot either.
As long as Gamboa gets his Cuban hustle on like Casamayor instead of Solis, 50 will make all of his $$ back and then some.
I think there is a decent chance this fight happens. I think it would be good for Broner to get some experience against a fighter like Gamboa. Broner will probably beat him and I agree 50 is cashing out on Gamboa.
I agree with this. 50 is definitely cashing Gamboa out. Broner is going to destroy Gamboa, mark my words. Then 50 will try to distance himself from Gamboa. Doesn't care about his fighters, just himself.
On another note, it would be cool if Floyd accompanied Broner to the ring for the fight. Talk about drama. :boxing:
