Even though Marquez was older when he fought Pacquiao in the 4th fight he was properly conditioned for the weight, whereas against Mayweather it appeared as if most of his additional body weight to reach 147 was fat. Marquez had fought Diaz at 135 the fight before he faced Mayweather at 147, in 2009 so he had to go up two divisions and he didn't appear to do it in a very effective way.
Against Pacquiao in the 4th fight, he was in the best condition he's ever been in, having hired a dedicated strength and conditioning coach, but he was three years older.
So who actually fought the best version of 147 Marquez.. Pacquiao or Mayweather?
I would say he was of similar quality in both fights, the main difference in outcome comes down to opposition, what that opposition was trying to do and what that opposition is capable of.
ummmm yeah...Power in numbers. What youre gonna come on the thread and make a difference? :WORD: Like what you say matters! But what a large % of posters say does matter!
But it doesn't as ultimately their statements amount to opinions, it will never be fact. The end of the day Mayweather outboxing Marquez 12 rounds to 0 ( 11 to 1 if you're generous) is fact as is Marquez brutally knocking Pacquiao out.
pacquiao did obviously. but mayweather would beat any 147 marquez imo because not only is mayweather highly skilled, he is also quite a bit bigger than marquez.
marquez and pacquiao fights are always good because the styles mix well and more importantly, they are the same size. marquez and mayweather aint the same size.
butthurt Floyd buttlicker :AOR: Check the poll out! :AOR::AOR::AOR:
Nice argumentum ad populum, you think the opinion of a bunch of serfs matters? Arguing that Marquez was superior in his fight against Pacquiao is one thing, claiming he'd destroy Floyd is beyond stupid. He'd get his ears boxed off in another 12-0 fight.
JMM now will destroy Floyd. And im not basing that on his performance last night. Im basing it on him properly adding weight and muscle and doing what he need to do to prepare for this fight. Its what he didnt do with FLoyd. He shot up TWO divisions to fight Floyd who cheated him on the scales and weighed so much on fight night he refused to get on the unofficial scale! Jmm drank piss last time. He went to the gym and made himself fit to be there naturally! Floyd struggled with Cotto in last fight. LOL JMM will destroy Floyd. Manny will destroy him as well!
deluded pacfart
ur idol lost
one min jmm is on roids now he is ur hero? hahaha
make ur minds up pacfarts
Styles make fights
two counter boxers simply will never be fun watch
Floyd doesnt hand gifts to his boxers like Pac does, Flody isnt a reckless boxer, he is a defensive boxer, and JMM just cant cope with that as he has nothing to counter.
Pac style is tailor made for a counter boxer to take advantage of
JMM was bigger & stronger against Pacquiao but it's not about that it's about styles.
I still don't get how many boxing fans lack the most basic statement in boxing which is styles make fights.
JMM is a counter puncher. He will always shine and do his best against a guy who comes to him and attacks. Floyd is a stylistic nightmare for JMM because JMM is forced to be the aggressor, thus eliminating the best part of his game. It's real simple stuff here.
This should have been the nail in the coffin
Wouldn't matter what version of JMM that May would have face, he still would have dominated him. Period. I mean, he was off for almost two years and pitched a shut out.
Pacquiao and it's not even close! Mayweather forced Marquez to move up two weight classes from lightweight and deliberately missed weight!
Marquez has had a few years to grow into the weight and get used to it.
This is exactly what Floyd was waiting for, hoping someone else would catch Pacquiao so he would never have to deal with him and not be pressured to fight him.
Pac also forced Marquez to move up 2 weight classes in their 3rd fight and Floyd only outweighed Marquez by 4 pounds on fight night and used his speed and skill to win fights, not his size.Floyd has fought Ortiz who outweighed him by 14 pounds,Oscar who outweighed him by 15-20 pounds and so on and so on.
Marquez had better conditioning in last night's fight than he did against Floyd, but he didn't win because of his conditioning, he won because of this :

Even though Marquez looked less muscular in the Floyd fight There was no real speed difference between the Marquez/Pacquiao and Marquez/Floyd.Don`t even try to say there was cause i watched both fights.
And Marquez did`nt lose any speed moving up 2 weight classes either.Floyd was just way to fast for him.Plus Floyd was coming off a 2 year layoff.
you can tell who are the deluded Mayweather fanatics, even suggesting that they're the same is a joke, and it's really only being said by his die hard fanatics to give Mayweather more credit.
If Mayweather wanted more credit he wouldn't have came in over weight and fought him at WW. Infact if he wanted more credit he wouldn't have blatantly ducked Pacquiao.
Yea, Marquez would lose to Mayweather again but that will never take away the fact that his name will always be associated with ducking Pacquiao.

He looked stronger in his fight against Pacquiao but strength is only one aspect. His sharpness and reflexes have diminished over the years.
Only in relation to Mayweather would a fighter at 39 be better than himself aged 35.
There's only one fighter in boxing who can take 21 months off, then return and still be able to beat an elite fighter with no effort at all. That's Floyd Mayweather.
Maybe if he put some effort he would of made weight and the win would be mean something lol
