Being sensible and not getting lost in what happened last night, what's next for Marquez?
Retirement is the only sensible option for me. And what a way to retire.
He's been in too many wars. Last night was only 6 rounds but he absorbed a lot of shots, probably as many hard shots as he did in most of the 3rd fight.
Maybe one final homecoming fight to cash in off the back of this. But certainly not a Pac V. Or an ever harder puncher like Rios who I think Arum might want to throw in for a big money fight.
Nacho needs to step in at some point and detach the warrior mentality from the reality that your chin and legs go at some point.
He should retire and go out on top, like a champion. I don't want to see him get in there with the younger dudes, let them fight each other. Bradley and Rios need to fight each other and not try and beat up on old dudes on the decline. 140 is packed and Golden Boy and Top Rank need to sort out business at 140. So, Marquez and Pacquiao should both retire. It sucks to see Manny go out this way, though. Manny looked like the best version of himself since the Margarito fight. I though Marquez was on his way to getting stopped, though. It was crazy, both should retire, though.
I thought Marquez was about to go out too.
had he controlled the fight then KO'd Pac, fine. I'm all for him continuing for another 1-2 fights.
But he looked too vulnerable and I don't want someone who's given so much to the sport to go out in a bad way.
