Adalaide Byrd seems to get a lot of stick over her scoring. Seen a lot of comments lately since she has been announced as judging Pac vs JMM 4
Personally I feel she is the best most unbiased judge in boxing and is a credit to the sport.
I am uncertain where the dislike has generated.
Okay she scored Trout v Cotto 119-109, I only gave Cotto 2 or 3 rounds myself and I am pretty sure those were swing-rounds that could of gone either way.
She scored Abril v Rios - 117-111 for Abril, that is great judging.
I've looked through most of her scoring and I genuinely can not see why people are against her judging.
Adalaide Byrd 114-113 (Hopkins over Calzaghe) is the only card I can find where I could maybe see people questioning it, again, this was a close fight!
I see she has been judging in a few controversial fights, but her scorecards are always bang on. So why the hate?
She is probably the best in the business. I hope she doesn't make me look a kn0b now and hand some ridiculous scorecard in :lol1:
That is one judge I have faith in.
She's the one who scored it 119-110?
A little too wide.... she gets praise for the Abril fight though
No judge is going to get it right 100% of the time. I did think the scoring for Cotto/Trout was a little wide but I'm not going to go on a rampage over it.
Trout outworked Cotto in every round. Cotto won no clear rounds and only had 2 or 3 close ones. Landing 3 punches at the end of the round doesn't make up for what Trout did for the majority of the round.

I think she votes with the brothas but since we don't have one here I don't know what she'll do. Not crazy about her myself. Think she's more than capable of a smelly scorecard.
She's horribly inconsistent, sometimes she'll have the perfect score card but other times it wont even be in same ballpark ( like last week's Cotto score card she put out).
I dont consider her a good judge, too inconsistent.
Obama (from vid trading forum) tweeted saying that her scorecards could indicate a tendency towards clean counter punching over aggression. Could favour Marquez?

Come on man 6 rounds a piece for Hopkins and Calzaghe? GTFO.

I think it was too but remember they are there live with different views on the action and who knows what they're actually looking at/for.
Keane was the judge who gave Ward a 118-110 in the Froch fight, maybe that's why he has a good rep.
I don't really follow the judges much, I guess it's only the notoriously sketchy ones who gain publicity.
I am a big Froch fan but that was a good scorecard. I really did feel the others had it too close, noway was 1 round separating the two.
Usually is the sketchy ones, I know I try take a mental note when I see/hear ridiculous decisions. David Robertson is one too watch out for, he has handed in some disgraceful scorecards including a lop-sided win for Cloud over Campillo. Thankfully he isn't involved in many big fights.
funny how people sh*8 on the only judge that had abril winning the fight.
the calz fight was close i thought calz won but i hated the way he did and obviously so did she.
Yeah if I was Marquez or Pacquaio actually I'd be happy with her judging, she is very professional as is Weisman.
I'm not too sure about John Keane, he had Hatton ahead against Senchenko which is personally not what I seen anyway and a few of his scorecards in Prizefighter have been a bit iffy.

yea she got the right guys winning the fight. i think she just gave all the close rounds to Trout in that fight, which caused the wide score
there were close rounds in which Cotto did land the more clean blows but was clearly out worked
And I could easily see why she would of preferred Trouts work. He was outworking Cotto and doing the more effective work landing the cleaner shots.
I felt a lot of Cotto's shots throughout was getting blocked and he only fought in spurts.
I think Trout could of stopped him, he was killing Cotto with those straight left to the body until he was warned then he neglected his body attack. If he continued his body assault I have no doubt he could of stopped Cotto.
I think, if anything, people are looking through Miguel Cotto-tinted glasses when scoring this fight. Yes it was a contest, yes some of the rounds were competitive, but it was never close. Austrin Trout was a clear and deserved winner.
For the first 5-6 I felt the rounds was close but Trout pulled away in my eyes and dominated Cotto with the exception of I think round 10 which was competitive but I still felt Trout took it.
I don't think her scorecard was that bad, 9-3 Trout is about the best I could of had it. Maybe I need to rewatch it myself but that is what I seen watching it live.
Personally, i thought the whole fight was competitive. Around the 6th round mark, cotto started backing up and boxing/countering off his back foot, and had success doing that. He wasnt running imo, but changed up his gameplan to try and have more success. Trout had success, and cotto had success. I kinda feel like alot of cotto's 'success' went unnoticed.
I just feel 119-109, although justifiable, is too wide.
