I was rewatching, and scoring, the trilogy last night and it was, more or less, like I remembered. Here are my scorecards:
Fight 1: 113-112 Pacquiao
I think Márquez controlled the fight but that 1st round was too big of a hurdle.
Fight 2: 114-113 Márquez
I thought Márquez deserved a close but clear 7-5 victory. The problem was that the 3rd round knockdown made the fight way too close again.
Fight 3: Draw
I remember feeling that Márquez had won but when I scored, and scored again, I ended up with a 114-114 card.
I would like to read other scorecards and, if possible, keep it civilized. I am not interested in the same old name calling and stuff that goes around here many times.
I just re-watched I and II, but I have to re-watch III.
Very important: Remeber to watch these fights without sound (No HBO commentary) and always do your best to ignore punch stats/compubox from HBO.
Pac vs JMM I: 113-112 for Pac
Pac vs JMM II: 115-112 for Marquez
I have to re-score the third fight, I was very drunk that day :D
But I remember having JMM wining that third fight easily.
...and just for good measure I re-watched JMM vs Freddie Norwood on Youtube, I haven't seen that fight/robbery in years! My score was 115-111 for Marquez in that Norwood fight. But damn that fight was a snoozer.
I have to re-watch the Chris John fight and re-score it just for laughs, I remember JMM getting totally robbed in that one as well.
FOr the first fight.....pacquiao won rounds 1, 2, 7, 10, 12 clearly....plus the three knockdowns....but won it by only one point...8-7....marquez fans whine too much.
Second fight...i think it was a draw due to the knockdown and close rounds...
3rd fight...that was a draw as well....as Marquez slowed his pace down during the championship rounds allowing pacquiao to outwork him.
I am the thread starter and I have a 114-114 draw for the third fight. I am not the only one who saw that and I am not even a Pacquiao fan.
yah i think dan rafael and max kellerman also saw it as a draw...i had it as a draw, but i could see marquez winning it by a round. the truth is all 3 fights were very close...
first fight i had PAC KO1...i stopped it after the 3rd KD
120-108 PAC for the other fights
Yeah but that score is the 18th amendment in the pinoy constitution. What were scores as an american?
Fight 1: 7-5 or 8-4 Marquez. Go back and forth between the two scores.
Fight 2: 6-6, Pacquiao won because of the knockdown.
Fight 3: 7-5 Pacquiao. Still don't understand the 8-4 and 9-3 scores I see for Marquez. That's basically giving Pacquiao no credit for what he did in the fight.
We see the exact same scores in 2-3. People making waaay to big a deal or the little work marquez was doing. It just wasnt enough.
It reminds me of the people that insist oscar drew with floyd or it was a close fight. It was a close fight, no way a blowout win for jmm.
I had jmm winning the first fight by a point, but i prob need to rewatch to be sure. I think i had him winning 3 and sweeping 5-12.
First fight: 115-110 Pacquiao
This is the one on which I will not even listen to an argument for Marquez winning. Some people like to say Marquez won every round after the first. Well, he lost the second round and he definitely lost a few between 7 and 10 bare minimum, so it's just nonsense to even claim Marquez came close to winning this fight. He fought well, but it was way too big a hole to climb out of without winning decisively.
Second fight: 114-113 Pacquiao
The knockdown was the difference in this one. There were many, many close rounds, but I always end up giving Pacquiao round 1 and round 7, which I think were the two closest of the fight. I could understand if you had Marquez winning.
Third fight: 114-114 even
This one I could also see an argument for Marquez. I had it even but felt like Marquez was the more impressive on this night, winning a lot of his rounds more convincingly than Pacquiao won his. Still, neither guy really did enough to take it.
Why should a guy get credit for getting his head snap back and missing combinations :dunno:
Fight 1: 7-5 or 8-4 Marquez. Go back and forth between the two scores.
Fight 2: 6-6, Pacquiao won because of the knockdown.
Fight 3: 7-5 Pacquiao. Still don't understand the 8-4 and 9-3 scores I see for Marquez. That's basically giving Pacquiao no credit for what he did in the fight.
