Canelo
Broner
Santa Cruz
Rosado
Donaire
Russell
Ward
Mares
I really wanted to at the very least get a HW or LHW in there. Wouldve added Rios but guys like him dont usually go for long. Takes too many licks.
rosado...
lol
:lol1:
he beats a blown up WW in what's probably his last fight and all of a sudden he's "leading the next generation of stars?"
it was a very good win, but let's not break out the anointing oil just yet.
I stole this list from the ring boxing magazine but it is the answer to this thread.
Which of these rising stars will make the biggest impact in 2013?
Nonito Donaire 30.2%
Adrien Broner 19.3%
Saul Alvarez 18.5%
Gennady Golovkin 7.9%
Andre Ward 7.7%
Robert Guerrero 6.5%
David Price 2.9%
Brandon Rios 2.5%
Tyson Fury 1.4%
Ricky Burns 1.1%
Abner Mares 1.1%
Timothy Bradley 0.8%
where did you get that poll from?
Also some real young fighters to watch who are 25 or younger:
Jose Benavidez Jr.
Javier Fortuna
Frankie Gomez
Oscar Valdez
Leo Santa Cruz
Felix Verdejo
Anthony Joshua

Yeah I think the sport may have a rough couple of years. We need Broner to do business against the best at 140 and a guy like GGG to actually be the goods once he steps up. And Canelo...I think the kid is a punk, but if he turns out to be talented he may carry the sport for a few years. So basically I'm banking on a few things happening that I think are highly unlikely...Broner will delay moving up, GGG will turn into another King Arthur and Canelo will be a bum...(grumble, grumble...)
The sport? The fans too and I think the negatives outweigh the positives. Thanks for reminding me of Canelo, I forgot to list him as a disgraceful cherrypicker.
Broner is an amazing fighter, so is Ward. I don't think either of them is in the same league as a Roy Jones or Mayweather. But they are the best out of the guys on the way through.
Ward is an incredible fighter, he just won't ever sell to the general public. Boxing will always make great fights, but we need some ppv draws.

I am not liking this generation of boxing at all...
Bradley
Alexander
Ward
Trout
Garcia (loud mouth dad)
Rios (loud mouth bum)
Broner (loud mouth wannabe)
I think I left some out that I can't think of off the top of my head.

The changing of the guard is here. Think of the guys that are done or are just about to be done in the next couple of fights.
Cotto is done
Mayweather only has two good fights in him at best and has no legs now
Manny only has one or two more fights left in him and is clearly on the downside
Marquez is close to finished, probably done if he beats Manny
Martinez is damn near 40 and won't have much left in him with his active style
Froch is getting up there in age
Wlad and Vitali won't fight for much longer (well, Wlad may be)
Hopkins is done
Hatton is reretired
Mosley is retired
Donaire is no spring chicken
Khan is already all but finished
The list goes on. The changing of the guard will be complete within a year or two. I'm worried though that we don't have stars to put asses in the seats that can also sell ppv. Ward is already the best fighter in the world, but he will never sell tickets. It's going to be interesting to see what the future holds and if anyone can step up to fill the void. Boxing will always make great fights, but it needs draws.
Canelo
Trout
Rios
Danny Garcia
Broner
Guerrero
Ward
Also mares, Gambia (although he's up there in age.)
Name wise. Sad bunch of fighters. Only ward, broker, Gambia are going to become "stars".
