I really dont understand all the hate towards HBO broadcasting, with the lineup that they have. Lampley is p4p the best.
I do though, on the other hand, agree that Bernard Hopkins was preaching the truth!
Great point. Lampley's narrative of the fight often bears no connection whatsoever with what is actually happening in the ring.
Yeah he cherry picks bits of the fight that fit into his narrative and ignores the rest.
Unlike most boxer-commentators, Paulie is smart and articulate. Nevertheless, there is something slightly annoying about him. I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's there. Perhaps it's because he is new to me (as a commentator).
I don't know why it's compulsory to have 3 commentators anyway. Bob Sheridan often commentated by himself and did fine.
I personally like Paulie's commentating, he's always been pretty spot on besides this fight. I give him a pass because it's obvious to see why he was rooting for Cotto.
They showed obvious bias towards Cotto and their judging of rounds was terrible.
True. They were definitely pro Cotto. Cotto disappointed me but he was in against a very good fighter with a lot of skills in his locker. I can't believe Malignaggi scored it a draw. It was almost a whitewash.
Paulie should not be an announcer, he's good at maybe being an interviewer or 4th man in the booth. 114-114 draw?
I liked Bernard's commentary better, it made more sense
yeah i couldn't understand what paulie was saying at times. he talks too fast and his high pitched voice was hard to understand

True about showing bias towards Cotto (mostly Paulie) but have you heard Jim Lampley covering Cotto's fights? And the scoring wasn't that off, three of them had it correctly for Trout and only Paulie had it a draw, compare that to some of the atrocious "judging" from Harold Lederman we have witnessed.
Paulie did a good job, gave credit to both fighters. Showtime's crew is more passive than HBO but they try to call the fight as accurately as possible while HBO's crew always tries to tell a story and it doesn't always reflect what's going on in the ring.

isnt it funny when Al Bernstein says ten times during a fight to his co-commentators "You made a good point there". these guys always clapping each others on the shoulder. its really laughable. I am pretty sure Bernstein doesnt mean when he says that half of the times.
