I just got finished watching the fight and from my perspective, Trout dominated Cotto. I only gave Cotto rounds 3 and 6.
118-110, 10 rounds to 2, Austin Trout.
How did you guys score it?
That did work for Cotto for one round, making Trout chase. I'm not sure why he abandoned it the very next round. I guess it was too late in the fight and Trout's attack had worn him down already.
It's mentally taxing and draining to ya stamina to fight off the backfoot like he did for that rd(I believe it was rd 5)...Cotto would have wore down even more if he tried to fight like that all night...
I know what I see, do you? I suspect not.
Cotto was gassed late, but in the mid rounds he started backpedaling presumably to give Trout a different look, when he was having more success making the fight uncomfortable for Trout. He was NOT gassed yet at that time he just decided to change tactics, for the worse. Staying in Trout's chest and pressuring him should have been his tactic for as long as he could maintain it, but he spent several rounds in the middle of the ring, where Trout had a huge advantage.
Overall very poor tactics. Cotto regards himself as too much of a jack of all trades, as opposed to sticking to what he does best.

I had it 117-112 so I agree with the 117-111 scorecards but the 119-109 was too wide, Al Haymon gave that judge too much cash.
119 is too high, still won though
Nice avi, Trout's fiancee cute as F. What's her racial makeup? Cause I know she's not 100% white.
I felt it was a draw. I really dont see how anybody can say with a straight face that Trout whooped Cotto. Actually if you really really wanna see the fight a certain way, you can even give the fight to Cotto by a round or two. even though I felt it was pretty much a draw
I guess it all comes down to what you like as a judge, but I had the fight for Cotto by a round. I could EASILY see the fight going to either man by a round or two, which is why I have no issues with Trout getting the win. I just thought it could have went either way. I saw two guys landing very little, and Trout missing all of in shots (even the ones Showtime was pumping up in slow mo where he missed every single shot.) But hats off to Trout. He seems like a good kid, and he obviously belongs even if I though Cotto squeaked the win out.
I seen noway to give the fight to Cotto in anyway..But hey we all see the fight we see..Maybe a few rds,but a win by a rd??I just did not see it..But to each it's own...
Clear win for Trout but the cards were crap IMO. It was relatively close. Cotto showed all the guile and ring generalship that has made him a HOF fighter. There was lots of subtle things Cotto was doing that had me wondering who the judges might give it to. I know I'm not alone.
Yeah he held his own.
Should have had more grit than guile this time though. Because Trout is no slouch in the guile category, don't try to hustle a hustler. What was the question going in was could Trout stand the pressure of a guy like Cotto. He never should have let up, as long as he was able. Kept the pressure and mental game full on Trout and tried to make him fold.
As soon as he tried to be "crafty" instead, he let Trout off the hook, and, our result.

Man, I saw that ish too! It was a replay they showed late in the fight, with a sequence of shots from Trout, all of which were slipped or deflected, but they were using that as basis to give him the round. I don't believe those Shostat numbers at ALL either. Just like compubox, that is a faulty system and oftentimes gives credit for shots landed on the gloves, grazing shots, and shots landed on.... air... seemingly. At the same time it doesn't fully credit body shots.
oh well. I'm the other way around, I feel it was a close fight that Trout won, due to poor tactics from Cotto. But I wouldn't have been mad at a Cotto win in the slightest.

I had it 8-4, but could understand 9-3 or even 7-5 because there's a lot of ways to judge a fight like that, especially with Cotto's bursts. The commentary crew clearly expected Cotto to win and only called his shots in the first few rounds. Finally changed the script later on.
i don't think you know what you were watching. cotto wasn't boxing off the backfoot, he was jogging backwards. in case you haven't watched a cotto fight that goes 12 rounds, that's what he does after about 7 rounds because he's GASSED

I'm sure you're not, but I am with Paulie on this one, though I think Trout edged the fight because Cotto decided to box off the backfoot to damn much.

8-4 Trout..But I was looking for rds to give Cotto tbh..I don't know what fight Paulie was watching??A draw,I did not see that fight at all...
I simply could not comprehend that either.
