Nothing against Floyd I enjoy watching him but the way he picks n chooses when and who he fights I think is bad for the sport overall. All the up and comers don't seem to wanna climb the rankings the old fashioned way. What ever happend to working you way to the top then trying to stay there taking on everyone that poses a threat to your status.now it's all bout who makes me most dollars. Thoughts anyone

LOL Floyd didn't invent handpicking, it's always existed in boxing. It's just that back then there was only one or two titles to grab and lots of contenders so you had to fight dangerous guys more often. Nowadays you got 5 belts per weightclass and the boxing organisations are even more corrupt than before, that's why you see more handpicking today.
this can't be disputed. aside from the fantasy fight, anything else he has done is meaningless for whatever reason cause all they want to see is mayweather to stand in front of pacquiao and get knocked out. they unquestionably put all blame on floyd for the fight not happening also so um good luck with this discussion.
people sh1t on his ww resume but he has defeated
Lineal champion-baldo
#1 wba champ-mosley
#2 wbc champ-ortiz
top5-Judah
former wba champ and undefeated-hatton
then went to 154 and beat #1 cotto
avoided the best like who???
at ww he has beaten the lineal champion and the #1 guy the #2 guy and the #3 guy, defeated the #1 guy at 154...ya'll act like he is fighting tomato cans..all he fights is champions

Guess you missed all the missed opportunities from his fake retirements and vacations. He avoided the best. He's still an extraordinary athlete.

fact is Floyd fought his way to the top and fought frequently...he broke away from his promoter fought Oscar and started making huge money so he does not have to fight as often...but he had to WIN and KEEP WINNING to get to this point.there was a lot of hard work put in to get here
Fact that Mayweather fights rarely is bad for boxing.
It's synonymous to ducking, avoiding, self-preservation, fear of losing, less risk taking. Don't even know why they defend this guy like he's some kind of hero or something.
Why does it matter when he does fight you will still complain
I'd hardly call the biggest draw in boxing since Oscar bad for the sport. Like him or hate him, when Floyd fights the sport is elevated to the top every time.
Ultimately it comes down to TV networks and casual fans loving that '0'. If fighting top opposition made more money than being undefeated, Floyd and the like would be fighting top opposition.

I think its partially true, but its not Floyd's fault. I think your seeing more and more young fighters being protected than ever before. In the past the young guns got to it and the best man came out with the leverage to pick and choose their paydays. Now if a guy shows promise his team tries to protect him as long as they can.
Floyd may be the most blatant with it, but it started with guys like Tyson and a young ODL. Guys who could draw a big gate and PPV buys no matter who they fought.
Ur missing is point. There are ppl srl avoided too. I mean he personally admitted to avoiding Hagler until after the Mugabe fight, at which time he felt Hagler was just past it enough to beat. The point is many fighters have done it to some extent. And it is true.He also refused to give Hagler a rematch even though about 50% of the boxing fans thought Hagler won. He refused to give Hearns a rematch until he thought Hearns was shot. He fought the 175 pound champ at a top weight of 168 and won both the 168 lb tittle and the 175 lb tittle in the same fight on a bs. setup deal.
Floyd dominated for 10 years before he broke from Arum to make the big money.
He doesn't fight often because he doesn't have to. But when he does fight, you can bet he'll face ranked fighters who may hold title belts not tomato cans.
In this age of a plethora of crooked 'organisations' and meaningless 'titles' that really doesnt mean anything.

the same SRL that fought Duran primarily because he waited for the Hearns fight to maximize dollars. the same SRL that brought Hagler to a fake press conference and blew him off and waited 5 years to fight him-and gave Hagler a 50/50 split so Marvin would accept the bigger ring. the same SRL that he and Bob handpicked EVERY opponent after Benitez.
you can hate floyd all you want but dont act like Bob and SRL didn't exploit his fame and earning power.
Given the age they were at, your point about Hearns is bizarre and the rest of it can be interpreted in a number of ways, the fact remains that he fought all of his rivals when they were at or near to their best. The same cant be said about Floyd, true, they both tried to make as much money as they could but comparing floyd's standing to SRL's is just sad.
