I get on this site sometimes and all I hear is Floyds a coward floyd doesn't fight anyone Floyd is overrated etc. But first I must say any guy who laces up gloves is not a coward, to think so is stupid. Of course it's a business and some guys may make smart business decisions but no boxer is a coward. Second why is it that Floyd has to fight middle weights in martinez, junior middle weights in canelo, and go back on his word with manny when every thing manny wants now Floyd agreed on in 09 when manny was looking invincible and took off the table after manny declined and started to decline? In reality Floyd could fight at 140 seeing as how he never comes in weighing over 150 but yet anyone he fights other than those 3 guys is a cherry pick but yet these other guys can fight anyone they want and be call pound for pound and atgs. Why is this if Floyd is really an overrated hype job?
well he has the light middleweight belt and both canelo and martinez want to fight him at 154 where he has the belt. So If your the champion and so called p4p king whats the problem? So stepping in the ring now automatically your are not a coward, then I guess he is a fighter with no balls or heart.I agree. I have no problem with Floyd not fighting at 154 if he gives up the belt he won from Cotto but he hangs on to it. As for being a coward a pro boxer is held to a much higher standard of bravery than the guy on the street. If you are not extremely brave and tough you should not be a pro boxer. Mayweather holds two tittles in two weights classes. He owes it to the sport and the contenders at those weights to say which tittle he is going to defend and when and give the other tittle up. Otherwise he should just announce his retirement. If Mayweather can so easily fight at 140 as the thread starter says why did he not make 144 as per contract for Marquez? He looks very lean and hard when he weighs in at 147 these days. I think his 140 pound days are over.

Even the haters know how great Floyd is. Many bet against him every time and he proves them wrong each time. Problem is, he hasn't fought the "fighter of the decade" and beat him. So they will continue to say he's a coward, scared, ball-less, nut-less, etc., etc.
With Arum out of the picture, the fight might happen and the haters will be scrambling for cover.
fair post. In my opinion, only thing that bothers me about Floyd is that he doesn't fight a lot. But from a business standpoint I see why. Like he said it's like the superbowl, the more he sits out the more interest. And in reality who is out there for him to fight other than the 3 mentioned names? If he fought 2 to 3 times a year who would be left? Atleast now with all the scrapes we can say that guy has a chance. If he beat them already what would be left?
Why as a boxing fan would you be accepting of that?
sorry bro but I cant support this
I totally understand the business point you are making so I understand where your coming from
But we aint TMT or working for Al HAymon - we are boxing fans and "good business" doesnt get you a pass imo
Floyd makes money from being the supposed "best in the world P4P".... if you want that title then you gotta do the hard part which is to keep it.... once a year aint enough for me... as a fan of the sport I cant get down with that
Trust me I wish more top fighters would fight but who can he really fight? Honestly I'm more mad Donaire and Mares ain't fighting yet. And Manny fighting Marquez again instead of all the other guys out there. I mean we all as fans suffer but what can you do? But I put guys on the same field if one gets a pass the other should because they all in the same business
we are in a different era of boxing-its not competition driven but star driven. SRL or Tyson had to fight 3 times a year, floyd and ODH not so much. floyd limits his exsposure which makes his fight a must watch event.
The sun rises every day-no one makes a big deal. Haley's comet comes around once every 70 or so years and its a news event.
SRL and Tyson got my respect but you can't lie SRL had more stipulations in his contract than any boxer in history when he fought Hagler and Tyson declined to fight Holyfield back in the day without testing so every named fighter makes his own rules and fight when they want

I would be what you call a *****. But his inactivity in the ring can not be justified. I don't know if he's scared. Don't know whats in the man's mind. Bottom line, if he claims to be the best then he should take on ALL challengers, and not dismiss challenges by hiding behind PPV numbers.
The Pacquiao saga is pointless chewing over. To me Manny ducked the test, and subsequently the fight.
I here you and respect I want to see him fight more too. But really who should he fight that would make sense?

True, I hear you but the difference is Pac is humble.
I'll be honest (but still respect your opinion)
I sometimes think that Manny's lack of English and silly giggling with buboy makes people think he's humble... he certainly dont flap his gums like Floyd does but he aint some sweet boy who isnt trading off the M8 brand he created.... I also beleive that Pac has it within his gift to say no to vacant titles and catchweights if he wanted... but he wants an edge like any of would probably want to
Dude is no angel - anyone who fights with such ruthless agression is no choir boy.... he maybe from a different country but he is as street as floyd is.
I dont want to create a different benchmark just coz a fighter is outspoken when he's not in the ring... either you criticise both of them or you praise both of them for what they do in the ring... its the discrepancy i dont like
True, I hear you but the difference is Pac is humble.
I'm sorry man Manny ain't humble if he truly was he wouldn't have so Manny contradictions, when trying to fight him. I like the guy but he comes across to me like the preachers who say he I'm holy but has a hoe on the side. Ask yourself honestly when was the last time Manny fought someone when things were even and he didn't have a stipulation in the contract? It was when he didn't have a name. Which to me makes him the same as everyone else. Even Ward as humble as he is said if Dawson wants to fight me I ain't budging 168 or nothing. It's a business. Humble means nothing when money is involved
True, I hear you but the difference is Pac is humble.
I hear your point but whether one acts humble or narcissistic outside of the ring has no bearing on how his skills or opponents are evaluated. I mean manny being a good guy (while boning hookers/waitresses) doesn't elevate clottey or give him apass for making Miguel go to 145. does it?

i hear you but there is a discrepancy here
Manny (whom I think is a hell of a fighter) is allowed to release his M8 aftershave yet boxing fans know he fought for vacant titles and catchweights but yet we dont give him the same stick for saying he's the first 8 weight chmap in boxing history and regularly compared to Henry Armstrong
I aint sh*ttin on Pac... just giving an example

Language is relevant to society like the slang you use is obviously not American, so you're just using it as an excuse to not answer, try again. But I'll ask again. Who is your favorite fighter? In his era who was a top ten guy who didn't get recognition who you felt he ducked or should have fought?
Its Tommy Hearns and I cant think of anyone who he should have fought. Even though he lost two of his biggest fights, he avoided nobody. It wasnt in his(or his main rivals for that matter) make up.
It's obvious you know nothing about boxing so I'll just post live footage for you. Here lil buddy
You opened up a can of worms by presenting facts to a retard on NSB. Just admit Pacquiao is god and leave the thread before you waste time on these trolls.
You make fair points but the reason is because Floyd is the self-proclaimed best fighter of all time, even stating he's better than Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson.
Don't get me wrong, as a boxer u need confidence, even arrogance but to say you're the GOAT not back it up is takes the p1ss. Other boxers may be accused of ducking each other but they don't call themselves the GOAT.
Funny thing is, if Floyd fought Canelo, Martinez and Pac and lost I'd respect him more than not fighting and retiring undefeated.

I agree with most you said to an extent but Floyd when he talks sometimes he makes sense. His defense is great but it's different he relies more on tactic than reflex now that he is older. That is what separates him from Roy and Whitaker.
"sometimes makes sense" lol
ok i'll give you that bro
also I'm not feeling the inactivity.... I agree with your original post... Floyd does get way too much stick whereas the same rules dont seem to apply when others do it.... however I will not condone his once a year rubbish.... if your top of the P4P list (or claim to be) then you gotta be fighting at least twice a year imo... otherwise its not a tue gauge
