Mayweather and Pacquiao are STILL 2 of the Top 5 fighters in the world. Along with Ward, Martinez, and probably Donaire/Marquez, they are still two of the top fighters in the sport.
People are acting like Floyd and Manny are way past it or something. Look here, Floyd hasn't been prime since 2007, has been past prime-still good since 2009. His defense, hand speed, footwork, and overall skill level is about the same it was in 2009-2010 against Marquez and Mosley. Now who knows what he'll be like when he returns next year probably, but as of right now we can say Floyd is still one of the top fighters in the world, if not the top fighter still. He went up to 154 lbs, a weight he's not comfortable at, and beat a bigger fighter by a wide UD, and the #1 SWW at the time.
And Manny, he hasn't been prime since 2009, has been about the same fighter he was in 2010 against Clottey and Margarito. The only difference is his past two fights, he fought fighters who actually move and don't stand right in front of him, like the past prime slow plodding Margarito and the human punching bag that was Clottey in that fight. He's coming off another close fight against Marquez (what's new???) and coming off what should have been a clear UD win against a prime/top 10 P4P fighter in Bradley. Manny's speed and skill is the same as it was against Clottey and Margarito in 2010, the big difference was the opponent standing in the ring with him. You mad Marquez, who uses footwork and counter punching and always troubles Manny, and Bradley who didn't just rush straight forward the entire night and used footwork and defense against Manny. And the times Bradley did decide to try and trade with Manny, he got caught repeatedly with left hands from Manny.
The point is....people talk about Floyd and Manny like they're past it completely, and they aren't. Aside from Floyd, there's not one fighter from 140-147 that I'd favor over Manny, and Marquez is a 50-50 fight like it's always been. And there's no one from 140-147 I'd favor over Mayweather.
Both Manny and Floyd are still two of the top fighters in the world.
If Pacquiao looks good against Marquez then it is still the best fight out there. I just don't think team Mayweather will ever put a reasonable offer on the table so the fight won't happen. Pacquiao made an offer to Floyd of a 55-45 split in Floyd's favor and agreed to take all the Mayweather tests. If he scores a solid win over Marquez I think that offer is reasonable. Team Mayweather could make a counter offer but they as much as told Pacquiao to F off. Floyd can fight two fights and make about the same money that he could make in one fight with Pacquiao. If Floyd fights again I think he will have fights with other guys than Pacquiao. He will still be making huge money. I am talking about today, not the negotiations that went on several years ago.

agree 100%
Manny just beat a Top 10 P4P and unbeaten fighter. Tyson hadn't gotten a legit win in like 4 years.
It's not even comparable, except in the fact that it was long overdue. Mayweather and Pacquiao are still better then Lennox and Tyson were at that time.
More like Manny was just beaten by a Top 10 P4P and unbeaten light weight who was unproven at 147.:lol1:

Yes, I've seen this argument from you before. That doesn't mean they aren't past prime. Hardcore fans are losing interest. Casual fans will treat it exactly like Tyson-Lewis. Hence, my comparison.
It's a case of agree to disagree, sorry too but I saw Bradley win 6 clear rounds, rounds that I've gone over repeatedly. Also, who has faced a a stronger line up of opponents than Mares, only fighter I can think of is Froch and that's about it.
Have much respect for you but you'd have to be blind to see Bradley winning six clear rounds. I don't think the fight was a robbery but (with the exception of the last 3 rounds) the rounds Bradley won could have gone the other way.
Floyd is a semi-retired fighter who fights once a year and Pac CLEARLY isn't what he was in 2009. If the fight happens I promise you none of this will matter. It will have Tyson-Lewis hype and Tyson-Lewis fighters.

Like I said already, I do expect Floyd to decline much more gradually than Manny. But that said, the guy still does rely on his reflexes and explosiveness to a large degree. How long past the age of 35 is he going to maintain those attributes as a WW/JMW?
I definitely thought was feeling the pace a bit against Cotto too, as Cotto's determination to cut off the ring and force him onto the ropes was taking a lot out of both of them. As the fight went on he recovered brilliantly and was clearly the stronger man going down the stretch.
He often controls such fights, where he's faced with an intelligent aggressor, with his footwork though. And I think part of the reason he ended up in uncomfortable situations against Cotto was because he wasn't quite sharp enough on his toes to wrong-foot Cotto and keep bringing the fight to where he wanted it. Again, that's understandable for a 35 year old.
Not taking any of the credit away from Cotto btw, he fought a smart and exceptionally disciplined fight on the night. But nevertheless there were little signs here and there that Floyd might not be quite as invincible as he once was.
A funny thing about sport is that a lot of the time, no one sees the end coming for great athletes and great teams. Sometimes a guy looks on top of the world and at that point in time, it can be almost impossible to believe that they would never be that good again. That's how it happens though, and the signs of deterioration can often only be detected with the benefit of hindsight.
I'm not saying Floyd is at that point yet, but you just never know. And as athletes get into their late 30s, the statistical likelihood of that abrupt fall from grace increases all the time.
I know that, it is why I would bet against him if he fight Canelo or Guerrero for the right numbers (would need a smaller number on Canelo) there is the chance that he isn't the same guy. Now Floyd is not likely to get his ass whooped any time soon but all a guy needs to do is do a bit better work in 6 or 7 rounds. If guy goes in there to win enough rounds I think Floyd can be had as long as that guy sticks to their plan and they are very good, if somebody goes in to whoop Floyd's ass he will likely win that is the biggest mistake guys can make with him at this point as Floyd will do his thing and make that guy do his hard work for him.
About the Cotto fight 2 things happened 1) Floyd was under the weather, that is what got said and guys like Rafael and Mulvaney who have no reason to lie said Floyd was clearly not sounding like himself and 2) Cotto and Floyd favor the same pace, both want a measured slow pace and Cotto has a lot of talent so in a fight to his liking that he was able to get some stuff done is not that shocking. The other fights Cotto lost he got forced out of his pace. I don't think that fight really screams Floyd decline but he is declining and a year is a long time in boxing especially when you consider he did a stretch during that year, so that can't be good for an aging champion.
Also Floyd is not a 154 pound fighter, his career will go down faster if he keeps fighting there.
Not even a Pac fan and this is rubbish. Pacquiao clearly won that fight. But for some odd reason people like to go by who got the decision only, whatever floats your boat.
At least be honest and people will take you more serious.
No way man. I'm sorry, I'm a big Bradley fan. But he won about 2-3 clear rounds, and there were a couple quiet rounds.
Manny won the fight. He landed more and landed the harder punches consistently. The only way Bradley even got a few rounds was the last 4 rounds. There were 2 rounds that were close and Bradley clearly won 2 as well. Take that into account, the first round was pretty close as well, it was a slow round. Manny won rounds 2-8 clearly I thought.

Gonna have to agree with this.
Fight could have gone either way, Bradley won 6 clear rounds in my opinion so it wasn't a robbery. Also, Abner Mares has consistently faced tough opposition and won. Doesn't change the fact that Manny's last credible win was in 2010.

Ward
Mayweather
Martinez
Donaire
Mares
My Top 5
Manny hasn't beaten a credible opponent since Clottey which was in 2010, lets be real.
He beat bradley tho,you gotta give him props for that.
What happened to clottey??

Manny beat Bradley 8-4 at least, and everyone knows it. Tim knows it, Diaz his trainer knows it, his wife knows it, and Tim's dad knows it. There is no possible way anyone could score that fight for Bradley, without sounding like a moron.
Mares is Top 10, but I'll take beating Bradley over beating Moreno, though both are good for sure.
