Do you know who rated Cotto that high as an amateur? Was it a boxing magazine? I ask because he would have to go against Wilfredo Gómez, who won gold at the 1974 amateur world championships and Daniel Santos, who was an olympic bronze medalist and has one of the most impressive amateur records you could find.
I don't know his record but someone posted a video of Vanes knocking him down and hurting him in the amateurs. In fairness to Trout it looked like a great punch that might have hurt anyone. Trout finished the fight. I think his chin is probably average and Cotto can KO him if he lands his best punches.
Yeah bro, I posted it on the last page. He looked wobbly. But Vanes is the same height if not taller than Trout. Just something to keep in mind.
I suspect he has a chin made of glass, that's why I am asking.I don't know his record but someone posted a video of Vanes knocking him down and hurting him in the amateurs. Most/all fighters have been knocked down/out in sparring, the amateurs etc
Including Cotto.
He may have a bad chin as it is quite untested though I do feel you're looking into things perhaps a bit much.
I'm a bit dumbstruck as to why hes circling to his right and why his jab was so lazy tbh
Not giving it that much weight. I think Trout beats Vanes if they go 12 rounds today. :boxing:

Right, but still something to keep in mind. (See Sillakh and Bute)

Vanes knocking him down was nearly 10 years back when he was still a teenager. Doesn't mean anything today IMO
Vanes was also a tremendous amateur with a lot of experience and a very potent right hand.

Anson Wainwright – Can you tell us about your amateur career? What titles did you win and what was your final record?
Austin Trout – I had a decent amateur career I won the US mens title in 2004 and became the Olympic Alternate in Athens Greece. I fought in quite a few international tournaments and duels. My record at the end was 163-42
