I see a lot of threads bashing Berto (mostly from people who overrated him in the first place) but give credit where credit is due : he showed heart. He got hurt and dropped, one eye started to swell up early on and then the other did too, but he kept fighting and landed some really big shots throughout the fight. Win or lose he's an exciting fighter and he doesn't quit, you gotta respect that.
He might get another $$ money fight but I think his days at elite level is closing fast.
berto was never elite level... he was on the cusp... if he wanted to get paid, he should've fought mosley... then he would've gotten his shot against pac
Yes he did. Showed allot of heart despite having both eyes almost gone & knowing he was behind on the cards kept going all the way till the final bell. True warrior heart.
I think the ref was horrible btw... Not that the out come would have been different, just tout I'd share that. Guerrero surprised me ALLOT with his chin & power. Good fight over all.
Andre Berto could have quit after the illegal intentional thumb closed his eye in round two but he fought hard the rest of the way like a warrior. He has flash but way more substance. Can't wait to see him again on HBO, hopefully making $2.6 million!

Not a lot of guys could go the distance after getting an eye shut and two KDs early on. He didn't have any quit in him, that's for sure. He was just caught off guard by that aggression and unbreakable chin.
and how much did canelo make for fighting josesito a blown up junior welter ??
Joseito Lopez has more skill in his pinky finger than Andre Berto, who by the way was holding the entire fight and almost got KO'd in the first round by a former featherweight who has marginal punching power at 147.
$1.6Million? he better show heart against a blown up super featherweight

People try to make Berto out to be a fighter with superb boxing ability when he simply has very little of it. I have no problem calling Berto a "warrior", but even then, the guy can be out-worked and out-gutted. He seems to have a lower breaking point than other "warriors".
He showed heart, but we knew he had that already. Berto literally showed nothing in the fight that we didn't already know about him. He didn't work on any of his deficiencies and probably never will. He fought how I expected him to, except for that laughable shoulder roll defense he was trying to use. Berto proved to be a front-runner who depends on his power/speed, he also had a hand in the clinch-fest, and he showed that he can be out-worked. Guerrero looked at Ortiz's performance and matched it.

At least the guy fought in this weightclass once before facing Berto, unlike Lopez against the guy in your avatar.
