Your thoughts on Ricky the Hitman Hatton

Ricky was a solid fighter. It gives me goosebumps to see how beloved he is by his adoring fans. It is really hard to accurately gauge where he stands as far as his legacy. But he always brought it and gave everything he had. He was one of those guys you couldn't help but root for. I wish him the best in his post career life and am seriously concerned that he will experience a rebounding depression after this one. I hope his family and friends help him get through this difficult ending to his career. The sport NEEDS more fighters like Ricky Hatton.

His vulnerability and honesty endeared him to the audience, you don't have many fighters that fit the "people's champion" mold as well as he does. The atmosphere is electric when he's in the ring, and very few fighters have that quality.

I don't respect him. I'm not a fan of people crying about their short comings when there is plenty more they could have accomplished. At the end of the day fighters who are serious about their craft stay in shape all the year around, imo it is the height of disrespect to expect to win against a world ranked fighter after 3 years absence and a drug addiction.

thanks, it makes me happy to see that there are people who see what hatton wanted us to see. He's had a good run and i generally feel his pain, i was in tears at the end of this fight. He is such an icon and idol to so many people and he wanted to do us proud. you had a great career ricky, dont let anyone tell you otherwise No one can imagine whats going through that mans head right now :( champion:boxing:

He's a champion, he let himself go in weight and looked obese not too long ago. And to get into great shape is a feat itself, and it's not like he was an upcoming doing it for money he's already a millionaire.

So after watching this fight, what are your actual thoughts on him? He is such a warrior, he always gave it everything he could, just for this fight he gave up the drink, drugs, got out of depression in hopes of winning, dropped 5 stone in weight, trained SO SO hard, he just gave it everything, he wanted to make all his fans, family and himself proud, theres rarely a fighter that does that, you can tell how passionate he is about fighting. it was so heartbreaking to watch this happen to him after everything thats happened and what he has been through. It didn't go his way but that's boxing. HE IS A TRUE CHAMPION NO MATTER WHAT He's the guy the got me into boxing, and he will forever be my favorite fight. I wish hm the best of luck and hopefully he keeps it together. No boxer in Britain generates the same buzz as he does when he does. It's Hatton mania and I'm chuffed he gave us one last night of it. Regardless of the result, his spirit and his effort summed him up completely tonight.

He's the reason I started watching boxing, so he could lose to a million club fighters and it wouldn't make any difference in my eyes. He's a boxing legend. Guys like Calzaghe, Haye, even Price and Fury, all have Ricky Hatton to thank for keeping boxing in the public eye.
