I'm talking regardless of how convincing their excuse may be, or whether they tested positive only once in a long, otherwise clean career. Based solely on fact.
Should boxers who have either failed a drugs test or who are alternatively a known drugs cheat (e.g. Shane Mosley) be accepted into The Hall of Fame?
No but the hall of fame is full of scum. Racists, wife beaters, criminals, etc
Yeah, but those things aren't performance-enhancing.
If it was a hall of morality Mother Theresa would be in there.
If you are going to let them in, you should have 2 sets of standards. One for drug cheats, and one of fair players. Asking the regular guys to have to achieve the same as drug cheats isn't fair.
depends. in shanes case his career defining wins over ODH may have been PED assisted and if so, no. On the other hand, James toney didn't use until late in his career so I'd look at it differently. same for like an eric morales.
That's what I was thinking, some of my favourite fighters from the past 15-20 years are on the list, guys like Toney, RJJ and now even Morales for trying to cut weight right at the end of his career. Tarver is another new one (although not a favourite of mine). I don't think it would really be fair to say that Mosley is out due to knowingly taking EPO, while Toney makes it in despite testing positive on two separate occasions.
