I saw some vids online with Cotto and now watching All Access, his nose is beat up. Even during the show you could see the difference from the opening interview and the middle and then at the end again. I'm wondering if that's why he's going to retire, Margarito demolished that nose and since that fight his stamina has never gotten back to a good level and you can tell it's because he has trouble breathing from it.
I'm just wondering if anyone has heard about this, the only reason I don't think it is, is because the fight is still on and GBP cannot afford another fight to mess up this year. Cotto is a warrior and I'm sure he would go through with it anyway, but if his nose got that busted up in sparring I may have to put some green on Trout, just in case.
cotto always has questionable stamina, it seems he can only be effective up until the middle rounds but once he reaches the late rounds, cotto starts to welt. margarito almost tko'ed him in their 2nd fight but was saved by the ringside doctor coz of the damage margarito had in his orbital bone from the pacquiao fight. mayweather got cotto scrambling in the 12th round of their fight. broken nose or not, trout has a good chance of stopping cotto
WTF? What fight were you watching?

Thanks.
It certainly looks busted up. I guess we'd probably know if it was broken.
trout will beat cotto.
Interesting. Why do you choose Trout over Cotto. You know, what fights of Trout's have led you to believe he has the style to beat Cotto? Not that Trout isnt a live underdog, but I would LOVE to hear YOUR specific reasoning on the fight. Please, get into detail for me so I can understand. Let me take a shot at what some of your opinions of recent and upcoming fights may be. Mack beats Froch (that is, if you have even seen Mack), Berto beats Guerrero, Lara beats Vanes in the rematch, Bradley beat Pac and will do so again if they ever rematch, and Ward would beat White Jesus in a fight, but not Black Jesus because Black Jesus is 50% better than Ward. Now, if Floyd somehow managed to fight a tiny, tiny man like Broner who would you pick...do you pick on who has more dumb money flowin? Or just based off who has more bling and pictures of themselves in their parents bathrooms holding $50 for a facebook picture? Out of curiosity, what was the very first fight you remember watching? :alucard:
Cotto's nose looked broken to me. I think he is having some tough sparring (from whoever it is) and it is making him rethink how much longer he wants to put himself through this and/or how long he can compete at the top level. You dont look like that from sparring that is going well, and Cotto sure talked a lot about his career coming to an end.
By Ambrose: Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) is reportedly sparring with WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin among others at Big Bear Lake, in California to get ready for Cotto’s upcoming December 1st fight against WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) on December 1st at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York, USA. Cotto, will be sparring with the hard hitting Golovkin in three separate sparring sessions with hope of being able to beat the 27-year-old Trout.
Golovkin is a much different fighter from the southpaw Trout, however, and it’s difficult to see how this sparring will help Cotto get ready for Trout, who is much more of a finesse fighter in comparison to Golovkin. The only similarities that Golovkin and Trout have is in height and their unbeaten records. Golovkin is faster, better defensively and a much bigger puncher than Trout.
There’s a danger for Cotto in sparring Golovkin in that Golovkin is so powerful that he’s forced to spar with light heavyweights and cruiserweights just to have guys that are competitive with him. Golovkin even tears them apart, as he’s been doing with his middleweight competition since turning pro in 2006. You put the smaller 5’7″ Cotto in with Golovkin, even just for sparring purposes, and you have the recipe for Cotto getting smoked on a daily basis by him in one-sided sparring sessions.
Where this is dangerous is that it could undermine Cotto’s confidence as he approaches his fight with Trout and that in turn could lead to Cotto losing that fight. Unless Golovkin takes it easy on Cotto or is dismissed early in the camp by Cotto’s trainer Pedro Diaz, we could see Cotto take a real beating from Golovkin.
You can’t throw in a tiny, wide open junior middleweight like Cotto in with Golovkin without bad things happening for Cotto. In addition to the beatings, I’m worried whether Cotto might suffer some cuts or concussions from Golovkin because he’s got true one-punch knockout power and he eats up middleweights. Cotto isn’t even a middleweight.
I saw the opening to that interview. The first thing I thought was, "Damn, is Cotto's nose broken?" Miguel's nose looked dented around the bridge. Don't know if it's indeed busted, but I was watching the footage on a huge plasma. It was tough to miss.

No way in hell. Trout barely pressed Delvin Rodriguez, he's not stopping Cotto.

so your favorite fighter is cotto and your gonna bet on trout because of a broken nose rumor?
