Vitali didnt ever do enough to be a HOFer, let alone an ATG.
Being the brother of the stronger HW champ doesnt give him special status, you dont get into HOF or above for what your brother does. Saying that Wlad is not an ATG either.
Actually I think that people who are more anti-Vitali much more often quote this fight. It is what it is. Lennox won the fight the way he won. I didn't heard a big congrats after that win to Lennox, more of them gone to Vitali - but ok...
Lennox's fans will always say Lennox destroyed Vitali, Vitali's fans will say Vitali should have won that one and so on... Second fight should have told much more but unfortunately that one never happened.
For me Lennox and Vitali are both ATG!
The bolded is all that matters.
Lewis was 37, close to his prime, not in bad shape, and highly motivated.
Wlad is almost 37 now, I don't hear anyone saying Wladimir is an old man.
Explain this post match quote from your boyfriend please.
Lennox Lewis promised to knock me out in 5 rounds. Why didn't he? I know because he don't have condition for 5 rounds.

That's my issue with that.
"Well if McGuigans in, then Vitali is in"
"If McGuigans in, Diego Corrales is in"
"If McGuigans in, Antonio Tarvers in"
"If Mcguigans in, Adrien Broner is in"
:lol1: No, but seriously, going off "If he's in, then he's in" is just going to cause the standard to get lower and lower and lower.
If we ever get to Adrian Broner...:lol1:
His 6 rounds against Lewis, plus the longevity and consistency say yes for me. His performance against Lewis was not a fluke, he was putting together good rounds, this shows me that he was in the top bracket, in my opinion Lewis was starting to take over, but that is besides the point, and we just don't know what would have happened. What we do know is he had a hell of a 6 rounds against one of the best ever. In many ways Vitali has proved to me much more than Wlad, who may have a better resume, but let's face it, that is just the way the pieces fell together. A fit and healthy Vitali would have dominated all those guys on Wlads resume the same way, in fact in some cases probably with more ease.
The only time either brother had a chance to prove themselves to be truly great was Vitali against Lewis, and in my opinion he showed he belonged. I would have both brothers as ATG's but I have my doubts about Wladmirs ability to beat a truly great heavyweight.
Dude if thats the case then Oliver MCCall and Hasim Rachman must be ATG because they KTFO Lennox.
lol...............
I hear you on McGuigan. However, I hope that's not the bar or else we're gonna keep lowering it, like we're doing for Vitali. And that's way too low.

Like Roy Jones, Vitali will have an outstanding career in fantasy match-ups. His undoing is that the division outside K2 is terrible.
Vitali is my second favourite fighter. I would not call him an ATG. That hurts me, but it is what it is. Resume counts. Fantasy does not.
HOF? Well if McGuigan sets the bar Vitali is in no sweat.

I wouldn't say clubfighters although I see what you're saying.
The fact is, Vitali's resume is abominable for an "elite" fighter. And it's degrading to other ATG's when people say he ranks among them. John Ruiz has beaten better fighters but no one would dare call him an ATG. Yet they call Vitali one because no one has proven to be better at knocking a bum out.

Particularly not when prime Lummox was KTFO by clubfighters.

Kudos for normal response!
I am absolutely not arguing if fight should have been stopped or would vitali be able to continue to fight normally for the rest of the fight. The answer for both is : big fat YES - fight is rightfully stopped and NO - Vitali would be seriously handicapped fighting in that condition.
Regarding the Emanuel comments - Manny said Vitali was winning the fight prior he turned it ugly (in brawling from the inside). I love Lennox and I love Vitali. I have a very high opinion on both. Lennox wasn't in his prime but Vitali wasn't either - he fought that fight with little experience on that level - I am sure that Vitali from Gomez or Arreola fight would fight much much better - actually I really think that version of Vitali (which I think is his prime) would beat that version of Lennox.
In other words, the best Vitali could beat the worst Lennox? That's not saying much.
H2H, both Klitschko's are Top 10. But I didn't realize H2H was what we based ATG on.
If that's the case, Joe Louis isn't an ATG and Floyd Mayweather is without question in the Top 10. Of course that's not true, as Joe Louis is in the Top 5/10 all-time and Floyd is around the Top 30 or so, not close to the Top 10.
What? Joe Louis is still an atg even if it was h2h. There's not a heavyweight in history that Louis wouldn't have at least a chance of beating.
And in response to this thread Vitali is not an ATG. He is not in the top 20 heavyweights of all time. He is the 2nd best boxer in his family though.
Once again, I respect your opinions. I only talked like that to the 'freedom' poster because other posters on this site was showing the posts he made and every single complain of his was 'blah blah blah, you are racist etc'.
As for delusional.
Fine. let's talk about it in a civil manner. Be honest here.
Won't you say it was at WORST at WORST 50-50 for Lewis if the fight had continued?
I am not trying to disrespect Vitaly here, but wake up man he was going blind in one eye. If a Prime Lewis fought even a Samuel Peter with one eye, Lewis would have been in serious trouble.
Vitali's eye was pretty much gone by the 6th. So let's say he fights the 7th, he will have to go all out against Lewis because if he don't KO Lennox in the 7th, he will be pretty much one eye fighter.
I can't believe Vitali fans are debating weather or not he can 'survive' longer.

"I say this in front of WLADIMIR' 'Lennox would have won that fight if there was no stoppage"
