Kelly Pavlik talks Andre Ward showdown in the works

Pavlik will be a nice name on Wards resume. The baby GOAT in for a fight!

I'm one of hte few posters who likes Pavlik, and think he's a better boxer than he's credited for. But fighting Andre Ward for his next fight is a stupid move. I mean, I give him all the props in the world going directly for the best boxer in the division, and I imagine HBO/Showtime will be willing to pay him at, or near seven figures. . . But don't you guys think he could another fight on HBO/Showtime against a much better opponent (stylistically). . . Like Edwin Rodriguez? Or even traveling to Europe to fight Kessler (should he beat Magee), or Abraham. . Or trying to lure Degale over to USA, or ****, going to England to fight him? It'd be better to preserve his career by beating one of those guys (which I think he absolutely has a good chance of beating all those boxers I mentioned), getting paid not quite as much, but still good. . AND THEN (if he wins), go after Ward? I like Pavlik and he's making a good decision. Win win situation for him. The question should be what is Ward thinking? Pavlik has power and so what if Ward wins? It's a lose lose situation for him. However I'm sure he's getting paid very well TOO. I would MUCH rather see Pavlik vs Froch or Kessler. Great style match ups IMO. I would also rather see Ward just move up to LHW. Nobody beats him at SMW. Not even close.

It's going to be Gatti vs. De La Hoya or Mayweather all over again, Pavlik has no chance, his people must not care about his career, just one last payday.

His team probably thinks he's emotionally unstable and they just wanna get a big payday while they still can. They're dealing with a guy who can get arrested for a DUI or end up in rehab at any moment.

Cashing out? Hey you never know he could land the big shot and stop Ward, no one is superhuman. He is right to take the money and the exposure imo. The Problem is Pavlik is not a 1 punch guy. He beats guys up with hard heavy hands. The Problem is he can only land them against someone in front of him. He has slow legs and cannot reset fast enough.

the problem is you cant just go from fighting D- level fighters to A+ level fighters. especially considering the problems ward present stylisticly. pavlik hasnt fought a top fighter since 2010 when he lost bcuz he still couldnt handle the movement martinez was giving him. leading up to that fight he had been fighting C level fighters since losing to hopkins where he also couldnt handle the movement. now hes fighting another top fighter who will be presenting him with lots of lateral movement and again hes been fighting nothing but weak opposition tailor made for him stylisticly. if pavlik wanted to beat ward he would have fought better fighters not to mention fighters who could box, move and force him to solve their style. but doing that wouldnt earn him much more money than fighting bums and if he lost or looked bad the big paydays would go away. thats all pavlik wants, a payday. hes been sitting on his ass waiting for one and now hes getting it. but he hasnt put himself in a position to win which is something i also want from a fighter. you'd have a better point, maybe if A) he didn't sign with garcia and be in california working his ass off (clearly) and b) fight will rosinsky which is the exact type of fighter you are saying pavlik hasn't fought. rosinsky can box a bit

He only has a punchers chance, so a fight or two prior to a fight with Ward won't really help. He should take the money now. He could lose to Rodriguez or Kessler before he even got a shot at Ward.

:lol1: ward takes pavlik's soul and retires him and then ward goes on to lose to martinez all planned out Is Martinez moving up? because Ward will not be moving down. Anyway video didn't work for me, but get the fight signed already. January 26th a good date.
