First of all Edwin Valero and Diego Corrales were both great champions, both had great punching power, Both lived recklessly, They both died recklessly and both had woman problems, They were both Latinos, They were both two weight champions of the world at Lightweight and Super-feather weight. In so many ways they were very similar.
I can not help but ask two questions:
1. Did Edwin Valero surpass Diego "Chico" Corrales before he died? He was undefeated and won each and every fight by brutal knockout. Chico had lost a handful of fights but ultimately had more fights.
2. If Edwin Valero v Diego Corrales fought at Superfeather weight or lightweight who would have won?
In terms of achievment, no, absolutely not. Chico had a far more impressive body of work. Had they fought? Hard to say who would win. Valero was intense and brutal, would have given Diego fits imo.

Asking this question alone is an insult to Corrales. Please
Valero is not a great anything. You have to have fought someone before you get that. Valero never did. At least Corrales had the confidence to do this.
Diego has the best 3 fight win streak in boxing during his time, or now.
He beat freitas, casamyor, and Castillo, in a row.
All 3 were top 10 pfp at the time, and in there prime, amd unbelievable good. No one in boxing now or back than is even close to winning 3 fights at that level, in a row. 1/3 would of been respectable.
Hell no he didn't surpass Corrales.
As far as fight between the two, hmmm that would have been a real good fight between two concussive punchers. Valero was faster and more mobile but Corrales was battle tested. We know he had heart and we know he could get up off the canvas and turn a fight around, but we don't know that about Valero because he's never really been tested. He was dropped by Mosquera but he was winning the fight before and after the KD. My money would be on the more proven guy.
No, Chico beat Roberto Garcia and Angel Manfredy by KO before he even got rolling with guys like Casamayor and Castillo, Gary st.clair was a killer fighter too and Chico beat him in his prime. That resume alone beats Valero.
i think if you add all those names together, they dont even surpass a SD loss to casamayor lol
They don't even surpass the 4th round stoppage loss over an overweight Castillo.
