......Retire on that note...
...or go for another showdown with a top 5 P4P fighter like Martinez, Mayweather or Pacquiao?
I honestly don't think he'll beat any of those 3 if he gets past Trout and Canelo..I don't want to see him retire, but I really don't wanna see him take another L in a brutal fashion like the Pacquiao or Margarito fight, although it could happen against Canelo..he just hasn't convinced me yet..
what do you guys think?..
I think beating Trout then Canelo would solidify his HOF status once and for all to leave no doubt about it and he could ride off in the sunset with that, and call it a great career..
No, I'm not so sure he beats Canelo can't remember the last time I was this torn as to who would win. If Cotto is able to beat these two I want him to stay at 154, his frame isn't big enough for 160, I would try to fight Martinez at 154. If Matinez declines, I hate to say this, then I would take Pacquiao's offer, I still think Cotto beats Manny in a rematch.

People that really love him would like to see him stop if he could beat those two, but most boxing fans are selfish and want more.
If he beats Trout, then Canelo, he should fight a farewell fight against either Manny, Floyd or Martinez. His career is almost over and he should take it one fight at a time.
If Cotto beats Trouy, and thats a big if, then he should fight Canelo.. Not to hate but Cotto has nothin for Pacquiao or Martinez, both of them would hurt Cotto bad. Cotto VS Canelo would be good but eventually Canelo will stop Cotto!!
ill hit you up after cotto fights this southpaw
hes been in a lot of wars bro, his body and mentality were never the same after the margo fight. sad but true, i also highly doubt he beats canelo.............
LOL @ bum. Still mad he made him quit brah?!?!
You didn't directly did it but you're definitely doing it indirectly.
I bet you'd salivate if Cotto won his 4th division belt at a catch weight huh?
Surrreee..and 5mths later he got caught doin the dirty....claim that bum all you want..cool, he made Cotto quit..but his entire career went to SH*T after Cotto too..and never bounced back..lol
and that's 2 assumptions you've made incorrectly...I never "indirectly" or insinuated anything about preferring one Catchweight over another..and if Cotto wins the 4th title at a catchweight..I wouldn't be proud until he defends it at a full 160lbs..til then it wouldn't mean sh*t to me..
so yeaaaa.......try again loser..

Real about getting too carried away. Sure Trout may be low tier at 154 but you never know in boxing.
His nuthuggers are morons and probably worse than Floyd's.
It's funny how you people make it seem like Pac is scared or something. Dude already climbed over 6 divisions. That's a rare feat itself. Top it off Cotto wanted catch weight @ 150 with Margarito and you guys approved. But Pac does it, it's a ***** move on Pac's part considering Cotto wanted a fight at that weight. Flip Flopping nuthuggers. That's all true. Cotto may have outgrown 147 and developed into a true 154 pounder but in my opinion Pacquiao is still just a big lightweight or at most a jr. welterweight and he is really to small to fight at 147. He made it quite clear he is not fighting over welterweight in the few fights he has left. Cotto-Pacquiao, Canelo-Pacquiao, and Martinez-Pacquiao at 154 are all fantasy fights that are never going to happen in my opinion. Pacquiao should not have to face monsters that will outweigh him by nearly 20 pounds when they get in the ring.

Did you criticize the pac cotto catchweight?
Sorry, I read the thread to fast and voted that he should retire. After reading the thread again I should have voted that he should continue fighting unless he wants to retire.I think he will beat Trout and I think he will lose to Canelo if that fight happens. If he beats Canelo that would show me that he is better than ever and ready for anyone at 154. I am not sure he will beat Trout but I think he is a bit better boxer and faster than Trout with more power. The Trout fight should show where Cotto is at now. Trout will be the best 154 pounder he has faced and of course Cotto will be the best fighter Trout has faced.
I don't really believe in boxers going out on top. It's kind of disrespectful to the sport. You should fight until you "pass the torch" by getting beat by a better man. The only case I could really see for it is if Mayweather or Pacquiao beats the other because there would be nothing left to accomplish. Even THEN I would say the winner should go fight at middleweight. Who cares if you lose then?
For beating a c level elite at the weight and an overrated/overhyped Canelo(since you guys have a tendancy to dog on him).
How is that a nail in the coffin? It's funny with you people along with the Floyd fans. A guy turns from shit to gold after being lined up to fight the guy(excluding Margarito).
So your basically saying, you won't give him credit no matter who he fights.
Then who are your "top" 154 pound fighters?
I would prefer that he retire. He's taken a lot of punishment in his career & wouldn't like to see him take more.
That being said, if he beats them both convincingly, I can see him definitely continuing, and trying get a fight with either 3 of them.
I want to see how he does against Trout, if he beats him in a very convincing way then Canelo is next if he beats Canelo then I would hate to see him hang up his gloves but I rather see him leave with a W than with an L if he decides to continue then War Cotto!
