Ward has a great resume.... winner of the super 6, he pretty much cleaned out 168 lbs... he's gritty and grinds out his opponents... not much charisma and his style is kinda boring (almost Ruizesque... almost)
Donaire has it all... speed, flash, skill, heart, charisma... the only thing I think he hasn't done is clean out a division like Ward has... if he were to clean out 122 lbs, He'd definitely be higher p4p than Ward by a wider margin
P4P, I think Ward would neutralize Nonito's offense and out-box him.
I think nonito's footspeed would neutralize ward's hold-n-hit technique. And without being able to grind nonito on the inside, Ward's outside game isn't as good or diverse as Nonito's outside game.
Pac gets plenty of credit from me because he was coming up in weight and heavily favored to get demolished its not his fault DLH poorly prepared.
I don't see what the manner in which a Ward beat some other fighters has to do with his Dawson win, Dawson was never ko'd maybe because he is a defensive minded fighter who uses his jab not just rushing in and taking punches but like I said Ward took his best weapon from him and he had no answers.
Ward did his job, so did Pac vs DLH. He really left little doubt about his ability to beat Dawson at any weight, so it's a shame he didn't do so. It was less of a stretch going up to 175 than Pac going to 154 or 150 from 135. He's already talking about moving up. He beats Dawson at any weight, just not like that.
With Martinez people always go back to Pavlik/PWill 2. That's 2 years ago, when Donaire was being the man at 115. Then he goes up and beats #1 in 2 divisions and a slew of other legit beltholders. Meanwhile Sergio fights Barker Dz and Macklin.
i know , it's funny..
lol , funny logic..but let me reverse that:
what nonito has done would amount to ward moving two divisions beating yoan pablo hernandez, another weight up and beat the number 1 heavy weight...funny aint it ?..thats coz you started from scartch with nonito same as i did with ward

I've got Ward over. The fact that there's even a little dispute as to Donaire even being the beat in his current division pretty much seals it. What Ward has done in his resoective weight class woukd ammount to Donaire beating Moreno, Mares, Nishioka, Rigo and having Salido or Chris John (lol) move down and making him quit. Donaire has scattered wins here and there, but before he was just so much bigger than everyone that its ridic. He was even bigger last night...and beat an older (but assuming still good) Nishioka coming off a huge layoff. Personally, going by their last performances I have both Ward AND Martinez over Donaire. Not to mention Floyd. Donaire is in a better spot to leapfrog them though in the coming years since there's more talent available to make him look good. When I think p4p I think of if all things were equal, who wins. I'd have the three previous guys mentioned as beating him. No knock on Nonito, he'll be around for some time and will be number 1 for a while if he can beat Rigo.
Also like how someone said they dont support fighters who make someone else travel. Ironically, even though younwere talking about Ward...Nonito was the hometown dude last night in terms of crowd and locale. >__>...

How is the Rigo/Donaire situation different than Bute/Ward before Froch, except a much bigger gap in hype to accomplishment?

Was he? I didn't see that, he came in at what he roughly does unofficially at LHW on FN so there goes the "weight drained" excuse looked about the same physically to me in terms of his speed the problem was Ward took away that right jab which is what he uses to set up his offense.
P4P status is imaginary IDK why ppl use it for a basis of argument, I can easily rearrange p4p lists and put anyone anywhere for a variety of reasons.

you might have nit seen it but plenty did..
I think they are about even. They both have a string of great wins going. They both win all their fights convincingly. I had Ward #1 before this fight. Donaire came through with another great KO win over the top guy in his weight class so I dropped Ward to #2 and gave the #1 spot to Donaire. Mayweather and Pacquiao are close behind in my opinion. Marquez and Martinez are just behind my top 4. They are all so good that I could change my list again because of a great performance or a poor performance by any of them. Right now Ward and Donaire are fighting often and winning big over the very best in their weight class. The other 4 top guys are not doing this.

Beating Dawson at 175 would have been Ward's best and toughest career win, but if he wanted full credit for beating the LHW champ, he would have fought him there. I dont want to rehash the Dawson drained talk, but guys like Miranda and Green get koed by every top level guy except Ward, yet LHW champ gets hurt by every punch. How much credit you give to Pac for DLH btw?
