Haye had his shot and didnt do sh1t. Seth Mitchell is 6'2 that height difference is going to kill him. D Wilder fights straight bums needs to step up his comp. Arreola eats too much fast food. Bryant Jennings is also 2 short. I think the Klitschkos might not even hand over the throne to anyone in this division and might just retire after not losing for a long ass time.
I get bored with people talking about how "skilled" solis is when his best win is over 270lb Chauncey Welliver
I certainly wouldn't put Chaunce Welliver above Monte Barrett (nor Ray Austen, or even Carl Davis Drumond, or even Konstantin Airich quite frankly), but his best win is going to occur when he defeats Tomasz Adamek in December. For the record, I am a big Adamek fan, and don't want to see him lose, and I hope Adamek pulls it off. But I don't think he will.
The point is though that the heavyweight division is weaker than weak, and Solis is the guy who in my humble estimation stands the best shot of beating a Klitschko. Feel free to disagree, but the tired knee-jerk reactions against anyone who mentions Solis are quite ridiculous and tiring, and not really deserving to be taken seriously.
I think quite a few could possibly get the better of Vitali at this stage. Haye and price for starters would have to be given a great chance of beating him. Wlad is a different story he is head and shoulders above the rest. Again if Haye came in with the rights attitude like the chisora fight I guess he might have a 20% chance of pulling off the upset v wlad, Price is still a bit of an unknown quantity there. Nobody else has anything other than a punchers chance against wlad.
Solis is fat, injury prone and almost 33 years old
hypotheticals are not going to get it done and these "skills" have been demonstrated against who exactly?
what good wins does he have?
I get bored with Solis haters. Not that there aren't legitimate criticisms out there, but it's hard to take people on boxing forums too seriously when their main function is to hate.
Solis is the most talent rich heavyweight, period. Maybe this will make you more comfortable though; consider it a critique of the heavyweight division as a whole, not a praise of Solis.
Anything can happen in a HW fight--Brewster and Sanders showed us that.
I see several contenders at the moment who possess abilities that others in the division lack. With proper training and the right game plans, these are the fighters with the best chance to upset Wladimir.
Pulev, Price, Haye, Boytsov
Wlad has those belts on lockdown he's far to skilled for the rest of the pack. His chin could always get tagged but he is a master of defending it.
Vitali is ready to be taken by a few of the young hungry guys coming through. Vitali is a very realistic target to be taken out of the two brothers
Vitali is 41 now & now playing politics - Haye might have a decent shot.
Boystov maybe, in the next couple of years against Wlad - very heavy short puncher, & if he can close the distance...
David Price maybe sometime down the track.
Prior to 2016/17 none! If Wlad will be still active Price and maybe Mitchell would have a decent chance.
Wlad is just too good for the rest of division. Vitali will retire in 1 year tops and other than Haye none has even remote chance of beating him at the moment.
If Solis can get down to about 220-230 he'd have the best chance.
Realistically? I'd probably go with someone like David Price or Seth Mitchell. David Price because of his amateur experience and style. He still needs some time though.
Seth Mitchell because he's the same size as Wlad and he'd be able to put real pressure if he gets on the inside. Getting past that Wladimir jab would be tough, but if he can find a way to do it, he'd have a solid chance at outworking Wlad to a UD win.
All the contenders have sucked for years. The champs have been getting a free ride. We can't blame them they have been doing their job. But it doesn't hurt having a brother sharing the title, that way you can fight the style best for you and have your bro fight the others. But with todays lot it probably wouldn't matter.
Price's two best opponents so far, Sexton and Dallas. Price looks good, but we won't know until he steps up to a Top 5-10 HW. Fury ducked him though.
cool thanks for the vids dude il check them
this is based on nothing, and stretches the meaning of "realistic" to its limits, but i guess id pick one of these:
soon:
Haye over Vitali
Povetkin over Wlad
Price over Vitali
later:
Povetkin over Wlad
Price over Wlad
Wilder over Wlad
Fury over Wlad
