i'm sure i'm in the minority when i say that i think rios and alvarado will go the distance.
I'm with you on that one too. Both guys are tough as hell with good stamina and don't really have one punch KO power. They rely on volume to get stoppage TKO's. Neither gets too many real KO's. If the fight is stopped, I think it's going to be a RTD or TKO stopped on cuts.
Which I don't think is likely.
i think they'll be close fights, with the fanboys calling robberies. i think rios and alvarado will go 10. 12 might be a different story, but both guys are durable, and they aren't one punch punchers by any stretch.
rios MD and donaire UD. both dubious.
alvarado and rios will be close. i think the cards might be wide for rios. it's an easy type of fight to make an argument. they'll both land.
nishi gonna outbox donaire for at least a few rounds. at the very least. i think they'll give a close fight to donaire pretty wide, though. he throws eye catching punches. most SFW throw tiny little punches. donaire's shots can shake a man if they're partially blocked. they sound like a gun going off. they're easy to overscore.
nishi has the consistency and subleties in his boxing to give donaire issues. he's just got to stay away from the pow, and make sure his legs don't fail him.
I have Alvarado edging Rios in a phone booth fight. Rios is not the best outside fighter, and Alvarado is usually first while fighting on the inside.
Just my prediction, but I think Rios will meet his match. If he struggles on the scales (which is still a possibility), then Alvarado wont allow him to assert himself before the weight issue catch up to him in the later rounds.
They are both known to get their butts kicked a bit, before they really step on the gas and gets their guy outta there. Alvarado edging by KO, neither of these guys have come off as distance fighters, to me.
As for Donaire/Nishioka, this wont really be a walk in the park for Nonito. Nishioka already has a general idea that he wont be able to match Donaire w/ speed and athleticism.
With that in mind, he'll religiously stick to the basics...something that Donaire has had a problem with as of late...poised fighters who stick to the gameplan and use a jab that Nonito cant seem to stay away from for some reason.
Donaire by decision, but not a super-impressive one. Hope that guy hasn't gotten spoiled by those impressive KO wins of his, he seems to get anxious and wreckless when he pushes for a KO.
My prediction for the Rios vs. Alvarado is that it doesn't last 12 rounds. The fans are the winners in that fight. I have Donaire winning by UD but I think Nishioka gives him a very tough fight.
