curry was very underrated as a professional and as a champ... rumors of him being gay this and that, IDK, but I do know, and have had numerous people tell he was, I don't care though, he was a helluva a fighter, and had some sweet highlights as well as some damn near perfect technique.
I've no idea why McCrory dropped his right hand like that.
Since Curry was stepping with the Hook, he must have assumed he was coming with a jab. Looks like he was flinching for a Jab.
I remember David Sample well. I could tell you his stance and major fights easily from memory.
I also recorded his pro debut on tv as well as many of his fights(like with Miguel A. Gonzalez)
from the 1980s, explains why I dont know who he is if he wasnt the fab four, or someone like tyson or larry holmes.
I would like to watch more old boxing but its hard to come by and when you find the videos they look like something that was recorded off a sega game gear TV tuner
Plenty of good quality footage of Donald Curry. He was a fantastic boxer in his prime though I believe though don't quote me on it, he had a lot of problems outside the ring and liked to party & such which lead to his downfall. During his Welter reign to me, he was magnificent.
He didn't have much/any upper body movement TBH but he was just so smooth of his feet. Great at range, mid-range & in the pocket.
Despite being well past it & out of his class he was still able to give prime McCallum, Nunn & Terrible Terry at his ultimate best a tough nights work. In fact from what I remember he was putting a beating on McCallum until he got caught with a jackpot punch!
If you'd like to watch some old boxing, then I'd recommend watching him. In fact I am making that my selection for tonight; Donald Curry & a bit of The bodysnatcher.
Curry-McCrory is on outube...and Milton was a top fighter also but that night? DONALD CURRY WAS PERFECT (Greatest single counter punch ever IMO)
C'mon, we both know that would be Jersey Joe Walcotts perfect left hook against Ezzard Charles
There is nothing more beautiful than this.
Well if Donald Sample is Donald Curry. Then I know he fought one of my favorite fighters in Terry Norris. I think Terry won by tko in the 8th. Also fought and lost to Michael Nunn by tko. He was on his way out though.
Donald Sample is the birthname of Donald Curry. A superb, dominant welterweight from the 80s.
Very underrated fighter & his prime, IMO one of the finest welters ever.
The counter left hook against McCrory is one of the most perfectly timed punches I ever did see.
admit it... you googled that sh*t :argue:

Wasn't it Lloyd Honeyghan who KO'd Curry? I remember the fight and with Honeyghan's back facing me, all I could see were flailing fists like a windmill, belonging to Honeyghan. I recall this vividly.
