I went and met Bam Bam, Israel Vasquez, Mikey Garcia, Joseph Diaz, and Steven Luevano. All really nice guys. Got to talk to my idol Vasquez for about 5 minutes and he is very down to earth.
Anyways, I had unfortunately brought black gloves and realized there was no where for them to really autograph on the black gloves with black sharpie. So they signed on the little gray part on the cuff links. When I finally got to Brandon he pulled out a big silver sharpie and signed big. Then he took a look and saw how small the others autographs were and said "you need better autographs. Hold on, Ay Mikey! Sign this glove again with the silver sharpie," then Mikey and Joseph signed big and Brandon gave me the glove back. Just as that happened Vasquez sat down next to Mikey and it was time for me to move on and leave as there was a big line. I asked Robert Garcia if there was any way for me to go a little backwards in line to get to Vasquez and Garcia told me to just go behind the table. Brandon saw this and said "Ya man just come back here," And he got up and moved so i could get next to El Magnifico and he signed. He was really friendly and personable with everyone. I was really impressed at how nice he was. I dont know if many other celebs or athletes would go out of their way for a fan. Just thought you guys should know how cool he was with me. Ill be rooting for him. :boxing:BAM BAM
KO studio, i was there too bro, i got to talk to joseph diaz jr and the top rank reporter crystina poncher, shes a cutie lol...great time...and great story, i saw alot of that from brandon, awesome guy
The bad rep Rios has got is probably down to how he acts to the media and other fighters to attract attention, build up fights etc.
Probably a totally different person when the cameras ain't on him and to people who aren't looking to knock him out.
I've kinda soften my view on him now, Some athletes, celebritys have a totally different persona proffesionally and personally, some times the polar opposite of each other.
Some of the nicest people publicly are absouloute arseholes when the cameras are off and vice versa.

even though rios is a pure trash fighter, glad to know he is at least receiving and nice to his fans, so he's got one thing going for him at least...:boxing:
Great story OP, its great you got to chat with Vasquez! rios seems to be alright.
If i remember reading, Brandon actually went to WildCard gym and said sorry to Roach face to face. he knew he did wrong.
Roach's* . You act like Roach is so innocent. That dude talks more **** than almost any fighter out there.

Talking **** about a fighter and a disease are two very different things.
I guess what I am trying to say is these moments mean something to people. You dont even have to be a celebrity, just going out of your way a little bit and not being a dick can make a lasting impression on someone. I remember Joe Frazier from when I was 6 and didnt even know who he was then.
Hes a good guy. I think he got that bad wrap because he was in camp with Margarito when he was coming back from the loaded gloves, but thats not a reason not to like Rios. He seems like hes always looking to do good. Cool story. I remember when I was like 6 and didnt really know much about boxing other than my dad used to be a professional boxer. We were at a show and all kinds of media and fans were surrounding Joe Frazier. They were all talking and throwing questions at him. I was standing back from the crowd with my cousin. I was just curious. I didnt really know who Joe Frazier was-- It was 1993 and I was like 6 years old, but Joe just walked past all the cameras and people trying to get autographs, kind of ignoring them, and came up to me and started talking to me. I remember him looking down at me and asking me how I was doing and if I was excited to watch the show that was about to start. He talked to me for like over a minute and the crowd was kind of pissed that he was paying more attention to some little kid than them. He probably would have talked to me longer, but you can imagine how short of an attention span a 6 year old has haha.

Great story, man. I'll be rooting for him as well.
Yea he definitely was really nice. Not only with fans, but I got to chill right next to them for a while, and hes really cool with his whole entourage. Just joking around with everyone and making everyone laugh. He seems just like anyone else, not with a chip on his shoulder or some stuck up celebrity. Everyone loves him and I became a much bigger fan after today.
On a side note, one of my idols, Israel Vasquez was walking back to the table and a group of people were in the way, so I seized the opportunity and just made a dumb little comment in spanish, "Just waiting for the people huh." And he laughed and said "Ya. What can i do?" So as he was now standing with me I asked him "How is everything? How are you" He said "Im doing good. Everythings good. Ive been thinking on maybe having 1 or 2 more fights to finish up my career but Im still thinking about it. We'll see what happens." We then went on to talk about whether he wanted to fight here or in Mexico and he said he would be happy with whatever. Then I let my starstruck-ness get the best of him and began telling him how I've been watching him since I was a kid and hes one of my favorite fighters. He told me thank you and we talked for a few more minutes. Even though he could have gone back to the table, he decided to talk with me a little bit more. We werent in the middle of a crowd or the media, we were just on the side talking one on one as if we were friends and it was one of the greatest moments of my life. Very down to earth. He went back to signing autographs and as he was finally leaving he came up to me and shook my hand and told me to take care. Great guy.
