Cotto response to Sergio Martinez

Would Sergio Martinez be Cotto's best win? I think so. Probably not giving enough credit to his previous opponents, but Martinez would be a very stiff challenge. I would be pleasantly surprised if Cotto pulled it out.

Cotto is right to avoid him. Martinez being southpaw and somewhat slick.....stylistically not good for Cotto. In fact, the SWW is not good division for Cotto. Cotto lacks sufficient speed/power advantage in this division. Wouldn't surprise me Cotto lose against Trout. Trout fights tall and does it well.

FYI Trout is rated #10 on Ring magazine and not even ranked on ESPN. I may disagree because he should be like #8 or something but he's not top 5 even if he has been putting in decent work. Like I said before Floyd/Cotto/Canelo don't even deserve that #1/#2 spot either and they're just up there based on names. Seriously, these are grown men saying "Martinez doesn't bring enough money but Trout does?" Cotto knows Martinez is more of a risk, as does his team. He doesn't bring enough money for the risk he represents. To just go "oh and Trout does?" is retarded. That's like saying GGG doesn't bring enough money to the table but Darren Barker did? First, consider what he is saying. He is shutting up haters saying that he wont fight Martinez. When Martinez offer the fight, he had the rematch against Tony lined up and the mega fight with Mayweather. The rematch against Tony was based on the options provided by Top Rank. It was the best possible financial offer made by them. The Floyd fight, obviously a better option than Martinez financially, considering that Cotto was already a free agent. Now he is fighting a top 5 SWW/LMW. It was his choice. He could chose K9 who is limited, however Fantastic finds his way to hate on the choice. Was Martinez available for December? NO. Even with no injuries Dibella and Sampson are saying that he will only fight twice a year. Canelo was not an option for December. Being the diva that kid, he wouldnt fight Cotto in his backyard. C hoosing Trout makes sense for him for two reasons. First, his BS title. For some fighters that BS is important. That gives Cotto leverage for negotiation with GBP and Canelo. Now that Cotto dont have the financing of TR and their guarantee, he needs leverage. But some idiots around here cant see that. We all know Martinez destroys Cotto at 154. Cotto talks about Martinez not being a good money fight but Trout is. Trout has a big chance to ruin Canelo vs Cotto or Cotto vs Mayweather 2. Cotto is right if he does beat a game Trout then they can talk about making a fight I am a huge Cotto fan he has always fought the best out there. The smart move for him to do is fight Canelo in may 2013. He's too big. fight GGG...people say he's fought nobody's...let's see! Also, I'd like to see him fight Dirrel, Kessler...etc level of competition if he's so powerful. Sergio been trying for years to make a fight with Miguel Cotto (he talks in third person stupidly), he is searching desperately trying to obtain what all of us want, money.
