Right now I don't see anyone who can replace the popularity of Pac and May. The excitement they bring when either of them has a scheduled fight is incredible. I believe it's gonna be a sad moment for Boxing once these guys hang their gloves. We can love or hate them all we want, but we can't deny the fact that these 2 people gave more life to boxing! :)
Just for reference people used to talk crap about how they would be glad when RJJ and Oscar would be gone because their fans were ruining boxing with outrageous talk.
Those guys weren't even gone while their fans were getting replaced by Mayweather fans and Manny fans, so chances are people are talking about the next guys already and you will hear the same exact stuff~ just about different guys.
Like these four but i wouldnt include Bradley. I never thought he was good..ever. I would include maybe Nonito if he gets pass the old Nosh or winner of Mares/Chemito
Bradley's stock as a fighter apparently went down for some people, when actually he fought to a Draw with Pacquiao, IMO. But no one needs to tell me anything about that, I know how the majority of people think of that fight. Besides Pacquiao, he has wins against Peterson, Alexander, Vazquez, Holt, Witter, people want to ignore these wins because of a decision they didn't like. I don't like Bradley's style myself, and actually i'm really not a fan of his. But I simply just named guys who's style is that of a winner. A fighter who will win at all costs, even when he's outgunned. Bradley won't give up, he'll try to beat you with activity even if you have the power edge.
New stars will eventually rise, it's a never-ending cycle.
Pac fans seem to be between Nonito and...I'm not really sure, I guess just Nonito, although I thought there was someone else...
Chavez Jr and Khan.
It is funny that people talk about fans, once they are gone they will just be replaced by different guys in short order in the minds of fans. Expecting different is not knowing the history of the sport~
When they are gone there will be a slight decline while the next group of stars sorts themselves out and then there will be no effect at all within a few years, it will be just like before just with different names and different groups of fans being larger~
Saul Alvarez, Adrien Broner, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. As far as popularity/money fights go.
Who will replace May and Pac as the best. Andre Ward, Yuriokis Gamboa, Adrien Broner, Saul Alvarez, Timothy Bradley. Let this top 5 list sink in for a bit, I know you don't like it, but get use to it. This list will start forming in late 2013-early 2014. Not completely, but you'll start seeing the momentum going towards this list.
Don't be surprised if you see Danny Garcia in the top 5 also. I know a lot of you think he's average, but in the end all he does is win and he's only 24. He's already The Ring champion and I actually think he's a top 10 fighter already, he definitely should be there instead of Cotto or Moreno. He's the man to beat of a division and he's not recognized as a top 10 P4P fighter. He's already done something Cotto has never done and will never do, win a Ring title. He's at least #10 as we speak but okay, he'll force his way through anyway, you'll see. You'll have to respect him.Like these four but i wouldnt include Bradley. I never thought he was good..ever. At this point, I want them both gone...but to think that these discussions of fantasy matches, and who should've fought who, will NEVER go away.
With that in mind, it wouldn't matter if they stayed or retired. So much for that, huh? Lol

BS there's many exciting fighters i think Basically people are fed up with Floyd and manny fighting has beens
Personally I cannot wait. It's just too bad they can't take ginger & broner with them.:lol1:
Broner and Ginger will be made into even bigger attractions; HBO/Showtime will need a star, they will spend the money and they will promote that "star."
I don't believe their fans disappear either, I think they merely migrate their energy elsewhere. Say what you may about them, they clearly still like boxing (just more particular about it). Many a Floyd fans have already chosen the Adrien Broner path (the other kind of fans) and Pac fans seem to be between Nonito and...I'm not really sure, I guess just Nonito, although I thought there was someone else...
well for one if theres two guys that seem to be dominating the world they might actually meet in the ring
all it takes is for someone to dominate the division then all their casuals will start loving them off till someone new comes along
I've come to the realization that Pac/Mayweather retiring will be very good for boxing, they are in the way at this point in their careers. I will also no longer argue against Canelo/Mayweather either, cuz it's positive for the sport in one way or another.
