So every time I read around here I see nothing but fanboys talking sh*t about Pacquiao "draining" his opponents by a couple of lbs, always trying to discredit the guy. But then I turn around and see the same people put Ward #1 P4P over Floyd and Martinez. How does that work? Ward just drained his opponent by 7 freaking lbs. If he wanted to earn that #1 spot he should've challenged himself and gone up to 175. I mean, Floyd just did it. He went to Cotto's weight and beat him. And what has Ward done that Martinez hasn't? He's been KO'ing all his opponents in the process too. He probably would've KO'ed Chavez too if his damn hand hadnt broken and Chavez wasn't so damn huge.
I can't believe Im in here defending Floyd :lol1:. And just for the record I could care less where you have Pacquiao on your P4P list. But dont come in here saying Ward deserves to be above Floyd AND Martinez. To top it all off, he fights Dawson at 168 and 2 months later he's talking about going to 175. Wtf is that?
PS Oh then we have a moron around here talking about how Martinez was on his bike all night vs Chavez yet he is just fine with Ward's lame ass clinching and headbutting. I think we all know who Im talking about. Just wanted to give him a shoutout.
Yeah after saying he could come down to 68, Dawson changed his tune during the negotiations and asked for a catch weight. Cheap move.
dAWSON ASKED FOR 172 FIRST, then 170, then said **** it
Dawson also asked for 170 and Ward did not oblige. :dunno:

Yeah but Oscar was far far far removed from being a top fighter. Dawson was at least a top fighter and in his prime.
True. IMO Ward would probably beat Chad anyway.. but Dawson was def. not at his best that night.
I'm just saying guys like BushBaby say Cotto was drained at 145, than turn around and excuse Ward for bringing Dawson down to 168.
Yup.. Agreed
On point.. but the comparison should be with Pac/DLH and Ward/Dawson.
Pac went from LW to WW.. ODLH hadn't fought at WW for years.
Ward been fighting at SMW.. and pulled Dawson down to SMW for the first time in like 7 years I believe.
Also, people went from saying Pacquiao would get sent to the 3rd row after the first jab from Oscar (mismatch).. while many saw Ward/Dawson being competitive

I just don't see how Cotto was drained at 145 but Dawson wasn't at 168. Dawson was probably effected more at 168 than Cotto was at 145.
What I don't get with Ward is that if he may come up to 175 next year, why not just go and fight Dawson at 175??? It would have meant a lot more.
The same can be said for Manny when he fought Cotto. He fought Clottey at the full 147 limit in his very next fight, why not just do the same with Cotto???
Either way, it's a double standard to say one was drained and a crappy fight, while the other one was okay. And both wins by Manny and Ward were good wins, Ward's just would have meant more had he gine up in weight.

How did Pacquiao beg? Last I recall Dawson asked Ward for a catchweight during negotiations no? At least at 170 Ward would've gotten a little more credit. And how you figured he doesn't get much credit? Ring elevated him over Martinez and some people here have him #1 over Floyd.

why should floyd be number one? He only fought 4 times in the last 5 years and he hasn't taken on the best?
Wards last 5 have been against way better opposition then floyd
And yes Dawson was drained and Ward doesnt get that much credit in that win..
from who? you? because he's getting tons of respect from people in boxing.

That's boxing/sports in general homie.. some can't seem to put their bias views aside.
It really is that simple. But they gotta bring incompatible excuses to defend him. Dawson asked Ward obliged, cannot be compared to I wanna fight you at a catchweight.
Dawson also asked for 170 and Ward did not oblige. :dunno:
dum ass thread for dum ass pac turds,,
dawson said he come down to 68 to fight ward smh he the one who called out ward at 68 how is that draining??

Neither fighter drained their opponents. Pac asked Cotto to come in 1 lb lighter than he did in his previous fight, 1 freaking lb. Dawson said he could come down to 68 no problem and Ward obliged him.
It's the same ****, different names.
It's probably been going on since the Ali-Frazier days.
Double standards are just born by being a fan of a fighter more so than it is being the fan of the sport itself. At the end of the day we are ruled by our biases.
Stand up post right here. But worse than that, even while they admit all he does is fight for the highest reward, least risk, they still give him more credit than the fighters that don't have that luxury to choose who they fight.
That's absolutely true. There is even videos of him saying that out of his own mouth and they believe shit like someone pointed a gun at Floyd. When a boxer who's hands are considered deadly, Floyd is the victim to them after putting them hands on a woman. They're the trashiest of trash. They care more about his money than they do their own.
Cotto fans are similar in a way now, I remember when they were actually an ok group of posters. Cotto's $$$$ this and that. Cotto is such a big draw with 100k PPVs fighting solo.

How about when its ok for Floyd to only fight for money but when Martinez shows interest in going down to 154 for the money somehow he's ducking GGG, Pirog and Ward? Does that count?
Ahh it just hit me. I know what Chicano is talking about now, I think. You're talking about Pacquiao fighting Marquez again and not Bradley? :lol1:

bro, you've been here for six months.. it's been this way. it's always been this way.
you should have seen it during the heyday of mayweather and pacquiao. it was bedlam. i posted exclusively in the history section for a year because of it. it's actually gotten better than it was.
people have biases. they also appear to get more out of hating boxers than appreciating them.
Lol yea I haven't been here this long but it looks like the whole Floyd/Pacquiao feud is getting a little ridiculous too. Anway, I just had to get this out of my chest. I was stuck at work and bored. We all have our biases and I think its human nature but sometimes you gotta take off your blind folds at least once. I dislike Floyd as much as the next guy but Im not gonna sit here and say Ward should be above him. Im pretty sure Ward is the next P4P king unless Martinez goes down to 154 and wrecks sh1t. But it's not his time yet.
