Go to time mark 22 minutes of this video (link below) and watch what Andre Ward says: he wont fight Martinez cause Martinez asked him to go down in weight OR fight at a 164 pounds catchweight. Ward answers he cant make 160 and not even 164, but if he WOULD make it, he wouldnt be strong at that weight anymore. But at the same time he makes Dawson come down to 168?? And then Ward says he will move to light heavyweight soon. If he moves up soon, he could have fought Dawson at 175 anyways.

are you retarded?
i didnt contradict myself at all the first thing i wrote was this:
"the only problem with the catchweight is that its for a vacant title"
thats what ive been saying all along, including in this thread.. over and over again..
i will only write this one more time so pay attention or dont respond.
a champion has a responsinbility to weigh within his weightclass limit, but he also has a right to weigh up to that limit. changing the weightlimit is changing the rules which is disgraceful to the title and all the great fighters of the past who became champions following the rules rather than making up weightclasses of their own.
winning titles in multiple weightclasses is impressive, the reason for that is bcuz its hard. you will be at a disadvantage sooner or later if you keep moving up or down, but overcoming that shows that you are a great fighter. thorughout the years we had a bunch of great champions who earned that status bcuz of how difficult it was winning titles in multiple divisions. then todays fighters make up their own weightclasses and act as if they did the same thing, they havent! they are manipulating history, their legacy and the entire sport.
we alreayd have 16 weightclasses and up to 5 titles in each, now you dont even have to follow the 16 damn weightclasses we have! the titles will lose all meaning if this goes on, fighters will find yet another way to avoid challenges too.
THATS THE PROBLEM WITH CATCHWEIGHTS! how it inflates modern fighters achievments and makes them seem like they are on teh same level as ATGs without earning it. but no title no problem. like ive been saying all along.
get it?
I dont read your nonsense anymore, retard.
and here suddenly a catchweight isnt a problem, according to you:

No, you are correct. In the post fight interview, Dawson said he'd go down to 168 initially, he offered it himself. All the other stuff Raskat said was made up and not what happened. I'm a big Chad Dawson fan, was rooting for him, and thought he'd actually pull off the win, so take my word for it.
totally wrong. watch the postfight interview of Dawson vs Hopkins II and you will see the truth.
The Dawson that Ward beat I would pick to beat most at 168lb..It was a very good win for Ward..Stop crying already..
LOL. good joke. even Arthur Abraham would have knocked out Dawson that night.
Ward haters have no ammo against him so they resort to word games, speculation, and the old, desperate "drain" excuse to make themselves feel relevant. Get used to it guys, the man ain't losing anytime soon.
I know Dawson is dumb but people must be even dumber if they believe this sh1t about him "wanting to" move down. Believe me, if Chad Dawson was calling the shots the fight wouldn't be at 168 in Oakland.
thanks for the correction, i don't remember exactly what was said. i just remember concluding "damn, Dawson has nuts to be going down to 168".

Ward had all the advantages.
actually he did not challenge him at 168. at first he said at LHW or at a catchweight, then Max Kellerman said Ward is only a super middleweight, and then Dawson said he might move down to 168. but at first he didnt want that, he just didnt want to sound like a coward when calling out a smaller guy.
Great comment. I was surprised that someone was perceptive enough to type this. I still didnt think it was a good excuse though, cuz ultimately, whatever the case, Dawson did volunteer.
Dawson wanted the fight, He made the call and so himself cheap and Ward accept... The same people who are looking to critise ward are the same ones who were trying to tell us how Pacquiao didnt really do anything wrong with Cotto coming down in weight.
I'm OK with fighters going down or up so we as boxing fans can see an interesting fight. I didn't question it when Dawson went down as it was up to him.
The question here is why say no to 170 when Dawson requested it then just 2 weeks after the fight go on an interview saying that "I want to move up to 175"?
Skill wise, I knew Ward was above Dawson. The 2lbs would not have made a difference. Dawson just couldn't pull the trigger as Ward was able to neutralize Dawson's offense effectively.
I don't think Ward fighting Dawson at 168 or 175 would make much difference. Dawson would lose to him at 175 also, but most likely not by stoppage. At least if Ward moves up to 175 he will have a few opponents to pick from. No sense in staying at 168 as he already cleaned it out.
ward should have moved up to lhw or at least proposed a fair catchweight. if people are defending ward's win against dawson then no one can say **** about pac vs cotto (plus pac moved up 6lbs to fight cotto)...and pac vs oscar is pretty much the same as ward vs dawson in terms of draining..the only difference was pac had just fought his first fight at lightweight when oscar challenged him at ww.

f dawson said catchweight or no fight, I dont think ward would have cared too much. Dawson wanted this fight way more. If ward wasnt comfortable moving up yet then so be it. If dawson wasnt comfortable moving down then he shouldnt have. Ward beats him at 175 too
Man enough crying. Dawson could've said catch weight or no fight but he insisted and pursued the fight anyway.
Thats on Dawson. Hes a grown ass man. Stop coddling him.
Dawson asked for 170 but Ward said no. Sure Dawson could have backed out but he wanted that fight so much that he didn't.
I heard Ward in the interview yesterday on HBO. He now has intentions of moving up to 175 .... but its not like the Dawson fight happened 1 or 2 years ago .... it happened just 2 weeks ago. Maybe its just me but I find it kind of weird to say no to 170 but then 2 weeks later say yes to going up to 175.
By the way, I'm no Dawson fan ..... I said it before the fight that I hope that he can make it a fight as he is clearly the underdog skill wise.
Look at this moron shooting himself again. If there's nobody at 168 why didn't he fight Dawson at 175 or 170? I swear nothing but contradictions come out of this retard's mouth.
