GET IN THERE RICKY! What a result son!
His trainer Billy Nelson should get some credit too, he's done well with Burns
Check out my vid on the fight if u get a minute :boxing:
Didnt see the fight, I don't understand this result at all.
Mitchell took Murrays power fine, and Prescott in the past...how did he get blown out by Burns?
Getting caught by Katsidis you can understand, Mitchell is a complete enigma to me.
Sven Ottke ko'd anthony Mundine... thats a real enigma....
Basically Mitchell got desperate and tried to trade flat footed and got dropped by a perfectly placed left hook,it wasn't the power twas more the placing and timing... Mitchell never saw it coming
When you see the fight, you'll somewhat get it. The size difference between them was huge.
Ricky is always a big lightweight, but he looked bigger than ever tonight. He was massive compared to Mitchell and looked far stronger physically.
Yeah ok I'll have to check it out. For whatever reason there are some guys who can make the weight really tight but are still strong come fight night, Burns is one of them.
No need for Burns to travel tbf.
He could move to a stadium and sell 20,000 in Glasgow; that type of crowd and atmosphere wouldn't be anywhere else in the division.
No though, fights against Broner or Gamboa wouldn't be fights he could win. The rest of the division? Why not.
We will see but I don't see neither one traveling at this point.
Out of Arthur, Burns, Murray, Mitchell, etc. I always thought Mitchell would turn out to be the best, the star. Never saw Burns coming
Not gonna lie, I was not impressed by Burns' last performance but today he impressed for sure. Then again all Mitchell had to offer was 1 punch at the time and Burns found the way to exploit. Good stuff man, wish it would've gone 12 tho.

Great performance from Burns. All though i was leaning towards a Burns win i didn't think he would stop Mitchell. Another good showing from Ricky.
The atmosphere sounded electric. I was sat with a load of Burns fans in the Echo Arena when he fought Nicky Cook and they were a great laugh. I'd love to take in a fight up in Scotland.
Looking forward to seeing what Burns does next, like-wise Mitchell as i still think theres alot of winnable fights for him in the division.
Was all over from round 2, he seen Mitchell only had a left hook and kept his right up high.
Sonned Kevin ''The toffee hammer'' *****ell and that will be the last time I bet against Burns lol
Good performance from the Scot.

Wonder if Gamboa will travel tho. Winnable fight and good $$$. Altho these Cubans didn't mind traveling back then when they just started in the US but now that they're building a fanbase I doubt they will. =/
I don't think travelling would be an issue for Gamboa.
He's fought in different parts of the US, he's fought in Germany and he doesn't have a big fan-base. He would get good money to travel over here and could pick up another belt in the process; 'd say he's the more likely to travel.

Mitchell was stupid. He was trying to out jab a guy who's gameplan is to box at range and land that straight right hand over the top using distance and reach. He might have stood a better chance if he went to war from the outset, but he elected to fight at range and got promptly put away.
Credit to Burn's though. Mitchell isn't a slouch, he just doesn't have the intelligence needed to cut it as a world champ. On the other hand Burn's knows what he is good at and does it with style. Impressive from Burns, severely disappointed in Mitchell. He isn't the sum of his parts.
He outjabbed Burns in the first round quite clearly.. Burns adapted,Mitchell couldn't...
I personally think burns should move up in weight if he struggled to make the weight regardless of the impressive win...besides I doubt he'd want to fight Broner or Gamboa
More disappointed in myself tbh as I watched there recent fights back and I said he wasn't anywhere near what I thought.
Never will I get conned by falling for sob stories & neither will I ever follow my heart over my head again.
Lesson learned.
20 bucks says mithchell is getting high in the locker room.
'Alright Ricky mate, you got any stuff?.'
'Can't....got a fight in November mate, but here's Joe's number he'll sort yer oot.!
Burns keeps proving me wrong but make no mistake, I still think he'd get absolutely molested by the likes of Broner and Gamboa.
Maybe..I'm still on the fence with broner to be honest, hes a mssive guy who is able to really boil himself down the weights. He hasnt yet fought someone whos his size.
But personally i find Burns entertaining as hell to watch..
Why would you stop a fight with 5 seconds to go? Grats to Burns but this fkin ref blows...
Tell that one to Meldrick Taylor... when the ref stops a fight he doesn't check the clock...he looks at the body langauge and the unanswered punches ... Mitchell was finished
Burns looked amazing, he sets everything up with the jab
