I think it does a few more this time around.
Before III, a number of people were saying the idea of fighting Marquez again was a farce; Juan had no shot.
Everyone now knows he is very much capable of winning the thing flat out. Plus, Pacquiaos fans will be in full effect supporting his comeback.
It actually did 1.4 million at first according to Arum, than 1.3 million, than almost 1.3 million (meaning 1.2 million).......so who the f** really knows what it did??? In reality, it'll do around 1.1-1.2 million, probably what the 3rd fight did.
Post that interview please. And surely you know that Wikipedia gets their sources from another source right? I know it's not 100% accurate at times, but click the numbers next to the statement and tell for yourself.

"Because the economics for the Marquez fight were so much greater than for a Bradley rematch, that is what Manny decided to do," Arum said. "It's so much greater because of the support Marquez has from the Hispanic community. Look at the past numbers. When Pacquiao fought Marquez (in November), it sold close to 1.3 million pay-per-view. Bradley was about 900,000. That's a big difference. Plus, the gate goes from probably $8 million to $12 million."
These numbers are coming from somewhere.

It even says Pac-Bradley only did 700k, which I don't doubt at all. Bradley has no fans.
A promoter can say whatever they want to say in terms of PPV buys. When HBO releases the numbers, it's legit. HBO hasn't officially released Pac's numbers since Margarito. Top Rank hasn't released Manny's PPV revenue generated since Margarito as well.
Wiki is a terrible way to back up your argument by the way. It still says Pac-JMM III did 1.4 million, which is what Arum said intially. But then he turned around in an interview a week ago and said it almost did 1.3 million. The hell??
When Oscar releases PPV numbers = "It's totally legit, it's OFFICIAL numbers."
When Arum does = "Lying snake, old ass man is lying they aren't official."
Sheep.
HBO released the numbers for Floyd's fights with Marquez, Mosley, and Cotto. The Ortiz was fight wasn't released by HBO, only Golden Boy.
HBO hasn't released Manny's numbers officially his last 3 fights. Also, Arum never released a "revenue generated" number, not since Pac's fight with Margarito. Coincidence???
At least Golden Boy released the revenue that Floyd-Ortiz made, 78 million. If they lied about the revenue the fight generated, they'd be in trouble with the law.
Arum hasn't released any number on Pac's revenue generated in his last 3 fights. That's why Schaefer proposed that Arum should open up his books so they can determine the split, but I doubt Bob Arum would open his boos up for people to see the real numbers.
I don't think anyone will bother reading that, please work on your overall reading comprehension.lol---
you don't think anybody will read this but you want me to work on my overall reading comprehension?lmao--
wtf does that even mean?---don't you mean my writing or typing comprehension?...and how do know i didn't comprehend correctly without reading it?
you would have to read it to know this wouldn't you?
you ****ing little tool--that's all you are--nothing more---get a life kid.
you work on your reading comprehension---if you can't read sentences well, don't take it out on me punk-lol
What's funny is initially we had Arum saying it did 1.4 million, then we had reports of 1.2 million, and now we have it did almost 1.3 million. Nothing official, hmmmmm.
I'm think the fight really did probably 1.15-1.2 million tops. Same way that Pac-Bradley probably did 800K tops, not the 900K-1.0 million reported going bac and forth, and the same way I think Pac-Mosley probably did closer to 1.2 million.
Arum hasn't released official Pac PPV numbers since Margarito 2 years ago.
i don't see it going over a million buys by 2 much--i could be wrong--i'm actually happy he's fighting jmm again believe it or not--i would have rather watched him fight bradley just to erase any doubt anyone had over it, but i wanted to see him fight jmm b4 fighting floyd just to erase any excuse people will have once he fights and loses very bad to floyd....but, i feel jmm will open up some serious ass whoopin juice on manny--i feel jmm is going to dominate manny--i just have that gut feeling---
i wouldn't be surprised it he stopped manny late at all...call me crazy--i hope i'm wrong--i want to see manny kill this guy b4 getting killed by floyd so his fans can go into hiding like everybody else does after floyd ****s their fighter up----but, i feel jmm is going to spank manny's ass, and it won't be close.....it's a pick em fight, but jmm shocks us again....not in winning, but how he wins---we'll see though...
i reckon this fight will probably do about a milion buys maybe even less, rememer the third fight was supposed to be pacquiao(the young, hungry,in his prime)fighter destroying the older marquez and we all know what happened there, the first two fights were FOTY contenders but the third was quite boring, i reckon the 4th will be boring aswell,i think its fair to say both pacquiao and marquez are past there best days
The third fight was actually "toe(foot)-gripping". I think that this fight will be expected to be close by most, but will have an unexpected ending. If Pacquiao changes his tactics and waits for Marquez, Marquez will be forced to attack more giving MannyP a better chance to put him down.
But neither of them can afford to have a fight very late in their careers, and with their reputations, especially Pacquiao, which will not be crowd pleasing.
Just for the record some people claimed UFC having the HW championship on Fox hurt the numbers. Personally I didn't, watched both no problem, but some claimed it. I think it'll break 1 million. Pac always seems to be able to. But I don't see much of the demand. Maybe I'm wrong. Having it in a stadium in Mexico would have at least put a different spin on it. Now it truly feels like they're just recycling opponents for Pacquiao.
If they were smart they'd promote this as Pacquiao's last fight where he wants to do the one thing he's never done and that's beat Marquez convincingly. Oh and I also do hope he retires after this. Him and Mayweather aren't ever going to fight so just retire.
