I obviously feel like Mayweather/Pacquiao has completely ran its course on all of u and I was sitting with friends watching showtime card and keep in my mind a lot of them were white. But they were all saying how much they want to Canelo vs. Floyd now and a lot of them for the most part are casual fans. Hispanic and blacks are going to buy this fight for sure and now whites too that is a lot of ppv buys.
Well, whatever you think, Paqcuiao vs Mayweather is not likely to happen any time soon. Paq is already taken. Assuming Paq is still in his normal two-fights a year routine, no political commitments, ie, reelection bid, etc., it will take at least six months to see him in another fight after his next fight with JMM. That means a total of more than nine months to see the fight.
What about Floyd? Will he remain inactive that long and wait for Paq? Only he has the answer to that question. If not, then leave the Paq/May fight out of it and hope that he will take on Canelo for his next fight.
Canelo seems to be his only option right now.
Pac and Floyd are known by more ppl domestically and internationally than Canelo. Your answer is a straight up no
International PPV buys aren't usually reported in those releases...and there is really no money in Filipino PPV market (where 20 Mn people watch).
That being said, I've always felt that - especially at this stage - there is substantial overlap to the Mayweather buyers and the Pacquiao buyers. The upsides discussed for May/Pac are probably wildly overstated.
May-Canelito does between 1.5 and 2 million buys.
Is this a ban-worthy post?
No way, although Mayweather-Pacquiao don't sell nearly as much as they could have, it's still the biggest money fight today.
I don't know if it breaks the record set by Oscar-Floyd today, they really dropped the ball not making the fight when the interest was crazy (2009-2010).
I consider it bull**** that a fighter who hasn't even done anything significant in his own division or in his 40+ career can sell huge...canelo needs to fight cotto or any of the other top jr mw's before he even gets a shot at floyd.
Yeah cause fighters like ward sell huge

maybe now (even though i seriously doubt it,) but theres no way in hell they'd eclipse the numbers pacquiao and mayweather jr would have done in 2010 or 2011. they could have easily outsold floyd and oscar.
canelo and mayweather would be lucky to do 1.5 -2 now. those would be huge numbers, actually, and the fight would be considered a huge success.
canelo has never even been in the main event in a ppv.
semi unrelated: i'd love to see the numbers that chavez and martinez did.
No way. If Mayweather-Alvarez was signed right now, I think it would do 1.3-1.4 million, a little less than Floyd-Cotto which did 1.5 million. But Alvarez needs that mega PPV and mega fight with Miguel Cotto first I think. Cotto-Alvarez could easily do around 700-800K, which is a very very big number still.
If Alvarez fights and beats Cotto first, I think Floyd-Alvarez could do 1.5-1.6 million. Mayweather and Pacquiao are STILL the two biggest fighters in the sport, and Pacquiao is still a top fighter. I mean, Pacquiao, who everyone loves to say sucks now, should have just beaten the Top 10 P4P and unbeaten Tim Bradley, which was a very tough fight to take. Mayweather-Pacquiao still sells over 2 million PPV's. The only thing that has changed since 2010-2011 is that I use to be convinced that it would do over the 2.4/2.5 million that Floyd-Oscar did.....I'm not so sure it'll do that anymore, but it'll crack 2 million.
