Canelo Alvarez is the most overrated boxer in the world. He hasn't done anything for that title, hasn't beat any top 154 fighters, fights blown up fighters who shouldn't be in the ring with him. And is somehow rated as one of the best at 154.
Far and away the most overrated right now. That being said I enjoy watching him fight but am ready to see him in tough with Lara, cotto, Molina, floyd, Kirkland...anyone
Canelo Alvarez!!!
He has yet to even fight any of the top fighters in his Division but somehow he is rated #1 in his Division by many and is currently the WBC Champion and tonight he is fighting a Light Welterweight
So remind me again what is the Big Hype About This Guy? Because he has Red Hair? Because I certainly don't see anything impressive about him in the Ring so far:dunno:
Also: Broner (though he does have talent AT LEAST), GGG (one win over "Super G" and people was ready to label him a All Time Great), Amir Khan, Manny Pacquiao (but the hype has died down since he have not looked all that impressive in his last 3 Fights or so), also have Donaire on that list as well, he haven't looked that good in his last few fights either...hell since his win over Montiel to be honest
I have no names to post but I notice there can be two types of fighters here.
First, the overhyped fighters that recieve alot of threads and stories but still manage to lose alot of their big fights. They can get thread after thread here.
Secondly, the still relatively untested fighters that have won titles and made title defenses but have yet to fight a meaningful fighter. There are people already comparing them to the alltime greats.
There are alot fighters presently in the second category.
One thing for sure ! if rating is what you really are , as opposed to what hype says you are , then without a doubt the most over rated WW , not only today , but in history , no question is Manny ! the dude is made out to be superman that is so managed and protected by special Manny rules that he has just been added to the world endangered species list by National Geographic .
Mayweather. It's not that he isn't good. People act like he's untouchable in a sport where one punch can change everything.
????????????
Your statement is exactly why Floyd is great. He has yet to get that one punch that the "so called other greats" have.....ex. Pac, Khan, Cotto and many more.
it was kahnn as ive said for years
now we will fid out 2n
jcc or alverez
or both real deal?
I don't think we will find out tonight if Canelo is the real deal
Right now? Canelo as much as I like him. Broner too of course. And Robert Guerrero...and Berto. I've been saying Dawson for a while and considering his recent performance I'd say I wasnt too far off.
I cant say Chavez whos fighting an elite fighter later.
I can't say Rigo because of his pedigree. He's rightfully receiving hype. Rigo is more of high expectations than it is overrating.
golovkin.. trinidad... and fernando vargas
Golovkin, yes but I don't know how you can have Trinidad in there. He should deserve a little respect. How many Olympic gold medalist did he beat? That alone speaks for itself IMO, let alone all his other accomplishments.
Ignore the dumb asses listing Pacquiao as overrated. They don't even know the meaning. Overrated is someone who hasn't been tested, Pacquiao has been tested, and has beat a lot of great legends, at 24 or 23 years of age he fought and whooped Marco Antonio Barrera the same Barrera that just whooped Prince NAseem, people tried to use the washed up excuses but Marco knocked out Paulie Ayala on his comeback, and he even beat Morales and gave Juan Manuel Marquez a tough fight.
Mayweather and Pac have some annoying fans who treat them like kings but they are not overrated, they are the two best of their era.
I would say overrated are guys like Rigondeax, Broner who haven't been tested but people hype them up mainly because they are undefeated, most undefeated guys are overrated to be honest especially when they lose those fairweather fans disappear and hop to the next unbeaten guy.
On this forum the most over rated boxers are Vitali K. and Bernard H.
Vitali because his style is terrible and he steps over himself as he punches the biggest mistake a fighter can do.
Hopkins because the last 7 to 9 years he's a seconds counter! He knows 180 secounds better than anyone and he fights only when he Has To! Boring guy to watch for 10 rounds, can't pay to watch him. Ray.
How is Floyd overrated?????
Anyways, I'm going to go with Broner or Alvarez for the time being.
While I'm a big fan of Broner and think both can be great fighters, Broner a little more so, they haven't really done much to earn their spot as big time fighters.
Broner has a solid but questionable win over Ponce De Leon, in what was a could have gone either way fight, and he has some decent wins over Litzau and Perez. DeMarco would be Broner's first step into top fighter territory and would be his first really good win, because DeMarco is one of the top 1-2 LW's hands down, with wins over Linares and Molina.
Alvarez has an alright win over Rhodes and that's it. Until he beats some Top 10 SWW's, Im not sold on him at all. And I'm not sold on him fighting Floyd until he fights/beats the Cotto/Trout winner.
Guillermo rigondeaux, hands down.
Overhyped by very vocal nuthuggers with very little to show for it. And spare me his whole amateur background record, this is the pros now.
