Chavez's Gloves Weighed 9.7 ounces

Ring the Bell!!!! If you care about .2 off a glove you really need to check into a clinic for "anal-retension"!!! some people don't realize that this is all mind games being played by Chavez' camp. it's the same **** with the 2 pound catch-weight for Pacquiao Cotto. It wasn't a physical advantage in the ring, it was a mental advantage that Pacquiao carried over Miguel all throughout his training camp and up to the weigh-in that he had to make a weight lower than what he's used to. roach's fighters are ALWAYS involved in DIRTY **** like this You're an idiot. Anyone who has ever cut weight before knows how much 2lbs can hurt. Look at aguy like Rios for example, or looks like **** even when he DOESNT make weigh. Imagine asking him to come down 2 lbs below the required limit. That's a death sentence when he can barely make the first limit. The torture these guys put themselves through to effectively cut the weight - they have to endure more of it in order to shave off that extra 2 lbs. Usually, to be safe, they have to shave off 3.

WTF, these are world renowned boxing glove companies, the weight of the glove should be exactly the stated. Kinda surprised in that regard, have they no quality control? Also, what respective brand is each fighter using? I agree it doesnt even make sense. 10 oz gloves should weigh 10 oz! not 9.7 not 9.4 not 9.9.....F*CKING 10 OZ!!!

If this was someone else then you might say ah big deal they just didnt pay any attention when preparing his gloves. But this is the guy who has already tested positive for diuretics, gains 21 pounds by fight night and conveniently skipped out on his post fight drug test last fight. Cheating again, not a surprise. This was an unfortunate post. I'd be a bit embarrassed. Why is that. Exactly. The smaller the gloves, the greater the punching advantage. Well if you, like others in this thread, actually read my OP and realized i'm talking about the importance of weighing gloves which most people downplayed during the Lee debacle perhaps you would have understood the point of the thread. Martinez was the one who wanted them weighed and has demonstrated his integrity, something Chavez has never had on display.

2 ounces is the differential between the gloves that guys who weigh 118lbs and 200lbs use. 0.5 of an ounce is 1/4 the weight differential seperating 8oz and 10 oz gloves so for two fighters in the same weight class wearing gloves that are half an ounce off its a pretty significant advantage. The glove makers can't make each glove weigh exactly 10 ounces. I have bought many boxing gloves of different brands for punching the heavy bag and weighed them on an accurate scale. They are always off abit. Sometimes heavy, sometimes light. A fraction of an ounce is no big deal and not cheating.

Martinez's team requested that they be weighed and it was found that both camp's gloves were under the 10 ounce mark. Martinez's camp will now use a different pair that weigh 9.7 just like Chavez's. So for all the people claiming it was a non issue against Lee this demonstrates how easy it is for gloves not to weigh the standard amount.
