Since he just lost in a bad fashion at 168, everyone at 175 is going to be gunning for him big time. Not only that, since he isn't really a draw odds are he's going to have to travel even though he's the champion, and being the champion it's not like he can take on a cupcake once he goes back up to 175 as of right now it looks like he would probably have to go back to canada and face pascal especially if he's looking to make money.
Dawson needs to worry about his health at this point. He was slurring a bit before he received what is now the worst ass whooping slash beating he has ever taken.
Dawson still WHIPS any and everybody currently at 175 IMO...I don't put too much into that performance, Dawson just tried to take on more then he can handle...
First thing he needs to do is get the hell away from Gary Shaw though!
Chad Dawson doesn't have to do anything. Do you think fighters actually give a **** if we think their opposition is credible or not? HBO has never had an issue with anyone Chad Dawson's faced, they want him on their network even if it's re-matching old ass Glenn Johnson or facing Antonio Tarver in front of 100 people in one of the most uneventful world title bouts of the era.
Dawson holds the WBC belt. The #1 contender to the title is Kessler, who probably won't come to America to face Dawson at this point in his career. I can easily see Chad fighting someone like Cornelius White next.
The only thing is glen johnson and tarver were old yes, but they both had fought on hbo numerous times before so while the fights did'nt draw very much they were still contested against guys who at least had "names" and had been on the network, who is cornelius white by the way?
To be completely honest, he hasn't looked the same fighter since Johnson 1.
He boxed very well in the rematch but then he was completely lifeless for 8 rounds against Pascal, did just enough to edge rounds against Diaconu, same thing with Bernard and then he looked drained and lifeless on saturday.
He's not been the Chad Dawson that battered Adamek since that Johnson fight. Whether he can get that back remains to be seen, but I'm doubtful. He's looking like another extremely talented fighter that wont make the most of it.
So can he improve from this is are going to see chad declining
But his next defense will have to be against a legitimate challenge anything short of pascal or cloud or even cleverly and whatever cred as lightheavy weight champion he had will take a big hit.
And if he fight pascal in canada he has to get the KO thats the only option

He needs to fight more often. Hell it will do him good if they gun for him IMO.
First of all he needs a long break after being KO'ed twice in a couple of weeks.

Chad is not at all in a tough spot.
Regardless of his fanbase of lack thereof, HBO is very much in the Bad Chad business. His next title defense will be on HBO and he will get paid. The hardcore Boxingscene fans may have lost some respect for him, but that will have absolutely no impact on his career or legacy.

Its not that he can't fight pascal it's just that we all know that he'll have to go back to canada to make the fight, coming off of a loss in ward's hometown and then having to go back to canada as defending champion sounds like a tough break, but it is what it is a KO over pascal is what he needs at this point
IMO, he needs a win, more than a KO .
Who is his mandatory? Let him satisfy a belt requirement.

I don't think Chad will ever fix his mental stability, that's just who he is.....those pressure fighters will always give him fits, with all his attributes he has one gear as far as boxing goes...
A good pure boxer but he doesn't have that beast in him to bite down and just fight when the fight gets tough..........it may keep Chad from being great....very good but never great...
Hope he proves me wrong though...
a KO over pascal is what he needs at this point
I don't think he can KO Pascal...yeah I know he had him in some trouble but I don't see him stopping him...
He can still get fights at 175...
I don't see why he can't fight Pascal, who isn't doing anything right now...

Thats right. His career aint over. He is going to have to try and learn from this loss. He still has a massive amount of potential.

It will be interesting to see how well he can perform with his back to the wall, but I guess what I'm trying to say is as the champion to lose the way he lost when he gets back up to 175 he has to be lights out against everyone he faces and definitely has some *****s in his armor to fix
