I ask be cause even in his feather weight days he's been comming in on fight night in the 140's. Is it possible with him cutting that weight that to get to catch weights hurt him as well? Because between the drinking and fast life he had out side of boxing and being a politican he had no way to stay in shape year round so we don't know how much weight he was cutting.
I'm not understanding you're question. What catchweight did Pacman have in his lightweight days?? But if Pacman is walking around in the 150's any catchweight above 140 recently won't hurt him 1 bit.
I said he weighed in the 140's during his lw days not that he had a catch weight.
To clarify my statement about Pacquiao being #1 pfp. for years I was going by Ring Magazine where he held that spot for years and even now is tied with Floyd for the top spot. I never considered him a real welterweight even though that is the division he fights in. When the Floyd-Pac fight looked like it would happen back in 2010 I think the betting places had Floyd and 8 to 5 favorite. Right now he might be a 2 or 3 to 1 favorite but that's just a guess. If Pacquiao looks sharp in his next fight the odds would be closer.
I always thought the only reason Pac was the #1 P4P fighter was because Mayweather retired and wasn't as active as he was. I've never heard of a #1 P4P fighter being the underdog against a fighter in his same weight class. Have you?
To answer the question - No, I don't think catchweights hurt Pacquiao, especially if you look at the tale of the tape on some of his earlier fights.Yes, Mayweather always was great and many believe he always was the best pfp. The fact that Pacquiao has long been considered among the 2 or 3 best fighters in the world indicates that making low weights did not hurt him to badly. I know a few think Pacquiao does not belong near the top but they are a small minority. If Mayweather had not retired he would have kept his #1 spot and he seems to have it back now but he needs to fight.
Your getting dumber by the day !
The only reason Manny is fighting in the 140s is because he's that good that he can. You look at his height and body and he should have been a career SFW but he's got that much talent that he can hang with naturally much bigger guys.I agree. I wish he had stayed in the lightweight division and then Pac haters might quit complaining about him not fighting Cotto and Martinez at 154.
Why, because you say so.
So Pacquiao denied Cotto 2 lbs, Pacquiao stepped up 5lbs, to face Cotto.
Maybe Pacquiao should have pulled a Ward and made Cotto come down to 140lbs
Pull a Ward?
Dawson called HIM out at 168.
But why let get facts get in the way of stupid fucking point, right?
Your getting dumber by the day !Coming from the stupidest, rudest, know it all p.o.s. on boxing scene I'll take that as a compliment. I was not talking to you so shut the f up.
Really so in fights where a fighter is moving down he performs as expected? I'm not talking about fighters fighting someone moving up to their weight but fighters that have moved down in weight.
Yep, I talking about fighters that meet in the middle ground, the smaller fighter generally loses.
Like I said prove me wrong.
Has it?
The fighters moving up normally lose
Prove me wrong.

History has shown that going down in weight is much more damaging than going up. The fighter going down from what he has got accustomed usually doesn't perform as good as expected.

But his last 2 fights and his next will be against fighters he made move up. He's only fought 2 WW's that were allowed to weigh in at the divisional limit Clottey and Old Mosley (whom he wanted a catchweight with until he saw that he was past it against Mayweather).
No, catchweight fights are there because when have two great fighters that fight at different weights rather than have one fighter go up or down a catchweight is agreed so they both give a little and neither is severely disadvantaged.

And your avatar and where you are from tells me why you got interested in boxing back then.
Come on at least try and back up your statements.
Have another go, lets see what you have got.
very fickle.
carry on hugging pacquiao and defending his tendency to deny his opponents the right to weigh in at the divisional limit.
also, how do you know where i am from? do you know what the word location means?

Making a fighter go to a catchweight discredits any win over him, it's goal is to make him a lighter or weaker fighter in the ring than he would normally be.

Yeah Pacquiao is only fighter that has had catchweight fights, maybe you only think so because you don't follow boxing.
Who cares about the titles, Pacquiao was more disadvantaged by the agreed limit by any of his opponents

no, because thats the fcuking division. are we going to make up divisional limits to suit pacquiao?
he stepped up 5lbs, he wanted to win the welterweight title. but he wasnt prepared to fight a full fledged welterweight was he!
he more or less has pulled a ward with making margarito come down to 150 instead of 154.
and another point, hatton went up to 145 against mayweather, but did he make mayweather come down to 145? no.
