In Ward's win over Dawson and Pacquiao's catch weight fights?
Both fighter's wanted to go down in weight and Pacquiao has been labeled as a drainer.
I'm confused, because some of the same people who're saying weight had nothing to do with Ward's victory are the same ones who say Pacquiao only won certain fights because he drained people.
It was only like a week or two ago the boards were filled with Pacquiao and his draining tactics.
cotto and Dawson. Nobody made them, if they didn't want to they could have turned down the fight.
Well that's where you're dead wrong Cotto didn't want a catchweight, period.
I'd like you to tell me who are these (both) fighters that wanted to come down in weight 1st & foremost.

Ward deserves more credit because he took on the #1 ranked guy at Light Heavyweight and another p4p ranked boxer. Plus Dawson wasn't coming off a brutal, career-changing loss like Hatton, Cotto, Margarito and Mosley were.
No he doesn't deserve more credit he took on the number ranked guy at 175 at 168, he should have took Dawson on for his 175 title, fighting a guy ranked number 1 at 175 but in your own lower division is not the same.
If Dawson was ranked number 1 on the p4p list it would be different.
I still think Ward beats Dawson at 175, but this is not a good look should have fought for Dawsons belt so people can't take anything away from his win and fight a healthy dawson.

Man Pac-Cotto was BS because it was only put in to hurt Cotto. Period. I mean come on Pac fought Oscar at 147 but he cant fight Cotto at 147. Bytch move.
Why have it at all? Think about it. What was the point?
The difference is, Pac won titles like that. Pac is a former 154 lbs champion, yet he refuses to fight at that weight.
^this guy didn't get the question.

You really are a hater, it was a non-title fight STUPID, that's why WBC invented the diamond belt specifically for this fight!!! Pac never forced Cotto for the fight, Pac initially want's it at 143-144lbs. with Cotto's WW belt on the line, BUT Cotto declined then they finally settled for 145lbs. with no belt, it was all for the money and Cotto was never at a disadvantage for this fight...
It was for the WBO WW title that Cotto won in the Jennings fight and it was on the line for Pac , how do you get non title fight ? , and Manny forced him to 145 or it was NO FIGHT , now thats called intellectual pressure , same boss Arum leaned on Cotto to accept it , Cottos leaves Arum and Manny has since refused to fight Cotto without a CW , you dont have to be Einstein to see through the Pac BS .
Totally different to Ward Dawson , and dont call hater just because the facts are stated .
I said Cottos title you idiot , and he looked like sheeet at 150 why mention that when he was 5 lbs lighter and Intravenous fluids to gain 2 lb , Forbes would have stopped Oscar the night Pac fought him WTF are you on about ?
Pac Forced Cotto down to defend his own title , Cotto was also leaned on by Arum to accept the deal ,,,,
All of the Pac CWs have nothing near the same scenario as Chad and Andre except Oscar .
Stop throwing numbers if you dont understand thats its not the number but how the individual can represent that number at the time , not years ago , lets see Manny today make 135 even 140 will hurt him today , very few on this forum have a clue about the effects of weight , most fanboys only see a number .

Manny-Oscar and Ward-Dawson are like the exact same thing, a guy thought he could drop a class and be fine, they were obviously wrong especially when faced with high class opposition.
Manny-Cotto is much different, I think the weight had an effect but I would rate the lack of a proper trainer and his whole mindset as bigger factors. In combination though being ill prepared, his confidence still shaky and being a bit drained was a very damaging to his chances.
according to *****s and pac haters dawson wasn't weight drained eventhough he went down 7 pounds and hadn't done so in 6 years, but cotto who went down 2 pounds (was 146 in his previous fight so you could argue just 1 pound) was a weight drained zombie...they'll never give pac credit that's just how it is.
Pretty much what I'm saying. Two weeks ago when Cotto denied Pac a second fight, everybody made Cotto was a drained zombie thread. Dawson went down an entire weight class and it's evidently something totally different.
I guess since the word catch weight wasn't associated, it's not as bad.
When you look at it though...... a seven pound weight drop?
People think it's easy, but I'd like to see people try and lose those last few pounds. Only a small percentage of people here have ever had to do anything like that.

According to HBO he was like 186 or something on fight night. Twas a pretty big cut for a boxer. But he chose it. Don't think it mattered because Ward figured him out before he could have gassed.

When you sign a contract and weight is stipulated thats it!!! If you come in weak your the idiot who signed the rules. Why should your opponent be responsible for your stupidity!!! Theres been contract weights forever they simply were noted as (+2 or +4 whatever/147 + 3=150lbs) No big deal.
They weren't title fights because of the stipulations, champions in the past did that alot in non-title fights to get a 10 rounder in as part of the prep for a 15 round title fight! It was a great opportunity for a man to get a shot at a champ and if they did well their stock could rise dramaticly!!
Theres been "junior" classes in and out of boxing forever, I hate them! To many divisions just adds to the mediocrity in the sport already! I don't mind the Cruiser division but a 168lbs is BS your a 160 middle or a LtHvy 175 and you have 15lbs to play with. Being drained is a legitament reason for not being able to perform but its the fighters fault for signing the ageement!! Ray.I agree with you. You really know boxing history.
You are seriously a bitter person. Get help.
LOL no THEY are bitter thats why THEy can't give Pacquiao credit. I like Andre Ward, and give him full credit, just calling these race driven fake boxing fans on their BS hypocrisy.

The most bogus criticisms of the whole CW thing are when it comes to the DLH fight. I hear constantly how Pac drained Oscar - but have people really forgotten that DLH cherrypicked Pac and made him move up essentially 3 weight divisions?(he had only one fight at LW at that point).
If that revisionism isn't bad enough, then they outright lie about rehydration clauses that Pac supposedly had against Cotto, DLH, and Hatton.
First thing - if Ricky was subject to a rehydration clause, we'd have heard it from Ricky right after he'd woken up from the canvas.
Secondly, from what I remember, all his talk about hydration clauses was propagated by the Mayweather family - you know, the same family who accused Pac on being on some mystical 500 year old war drug :lol1:
Great post. All of it is the truth. If there was a rehydration clause those fighters would have told the world about it.
Actually you are trying to put it on me, nice slick move there but you just described the people I am talking about They have ulterior motives and make it about race, that is why they give certain fighters passses but attack those who don't look like them for the same **** the fighters they like do.
