Anyone else found Kellerman's "insights" (Ward-Dawson) ranging from pathetically obvious to plain bull****. It was great to see Ward put up such a great performance, but Max' inane comments were starting to ruin it. I think I shut down the audio in round 7 r so.
Boxing broadcasting is in bad shape. Kellerman is just a bit goofy and does not have great broadcasting skills nor the voice for it or knowledge IMO.
And what's even worse is now Showtime boxing has brought on Mauro Ranallo from Elite XC and Strikeforce doing main commentary I noticed last night while Al Bernstein takes a back seat. I can't stand listening to Ranallo do MMA and now I have to suffer through his old school AM radio DJ voice doing boxing. He started out doing local Vancouver wrestling commentating and that's where he belongs...knows nothing about boxing.
Lol Kellerman is a clown. I like when he gets into it with Roy and they disagree with each other and Roy schools his ass. Then he finds a way to agree with Roy like "Yea well... blah blah"
Larry Merchant is the real clown..... Talks to slow and rarely has anything interesting to say about the fight...
Yet when he's watching his favorite fighters he's biased as hell.. Leave it to Roy to call him out on it.
Kellerman is a better interviewer than he is a commentator. For me, he isn't very good at the 'blow by blow' and technical side of boxing commentary, and he's just throws in some irrelevant fight from the past and passes it off as knowledge.
However I do think he is a good interviewer, he asks the right questions and gets the answers fans want to his credit
Hbo just love grooming fighters to be stars and hyping them. The commentary makes it so obvious it's not even funny. As far as the fight goes, let's be honest dawson looked like a deadman from the start. He should have been out of there much earlier.
He looked fine. Lets be honest you're but hurt and looking for an excuse.
Ward is clearly someone they are trying to groom as a HBO star, though I still doubt Ward becomes a big star ever. He'll be Roy Jones or Bernard Hopkins big, not Oscar or Floyd big.
But still, the announcers had nothing to do with Ward beating Dawson's ass. It was a great win and performance by Ward, I was shocked that Ward stopped him. Obviously it would have been greater had Ward gone up in weight or if they'd fought a non-title CW fight or something. Still, a great win for Ward. I wouldn't rule out a rematch at 175 in the next few years, if Dawson stays on top there.
Dawson should fight either Cloud or Pascal next.
he won't it's open season on him now. His confidence is gone and Pascal already beat him anyway everyone else he fought was a geriatric.

:lol1: so true!!!
Max called Chad "Larry Dawson" last night...I said who? LOL
I usually prefer Sky or Sho and I really like Tarver as a commentator. HBO is getting nauseating. RJ is cool but he often likes to get into arguments with the other commentators during a fight and steal the action - that's not his job as a commentator. Wasn't that one of the reasons why HBO silently left Foreman out of future fights?
Hopkins could actually be cool too with his insight but I sense the same thing will happen like RJ and Foreman.
I like Kellerman a lot. Him and RJJ are great on HBO..
Papas kool but he doesnt have the boxing knowledge that kellerman brings to the table...
Lampley is a cheerleader who is hyping up whichever fighter hbo tells him to..
Stewart is ok, hate it when he says. this is exactly what i expected to happen..
merchant is too old
The comments made by all 3 of them were pretty much useless as always. The only good commentator they have his RJ, he should be hired full time and get rid of stewards old ass.
Amen to that.

true! he always try to come up with some conciliatory bs after gettin schooled.
Max Kellerman is one of the smartest people in boxing, if not the smartest. I just don't get the nonsense that I hear regularly on here about him.
He could have a phd from effin harvard, but he says stupid sh1t about boxing way too often.
Merchant was more accurate, he's just a better commentator, I'll miss him when gets replaced by Kellerman.
When there's no fighter or trainer the commentary is not gonna be terribly insightful. Roy should have been there instead of Kellerman.
And Ward isn't quite the heavy hitter either. I don't think this fight happens tho to be serious.
I said Golovkin isn't hard to find or hit, he isn't. Ward is the best fighter I've seen lately that gets his opponent completely out of their fight and what they do. Golovkin would be no different. Golovkin is good though, he should focus on cleaning out MW though. Chavez/Martinez, Geale, Quillin/Pirog, those are the fights he needs right now.
I don't know where Ward goes from here though. The other Top SMW's he's beaten and are sorting their crap out, Froch/Bute/Kessler/Abraham.
I think Ward should stay at 168 for another 12-18 months though. He could fight Andre Dirrell next, which would be a solid win over a Top 10 SMW. Than, he could fight someone like Rodriguez/Stevenson/Oosthuizen, who ever steps up as a top contender by next year. By then, the Froch/Bute/Kessler/Abraham crap will be sorted out and Chavez will be at 168 as well.
I'm sorry but I don't see how this is turning into a Ward doesn't want it with Golovkin thread. Ward will beat Golovkin, and I bet that fight happens in the next couple years, if everything falls into place for it. Golovkin looks solid, but he's not exactly hard to hit.

Notice HBO never mention Golokovin to Ward, they just basically said is a move to 175 your next step I beleive the man called out anyone from 154 to 168 that mean Mayweather to Ward right ?
I would dare Ward tie up GGG and try to fight him on the inside. :lol1:
