I just finished watching this fight. Chad Dawson didn't look like himself. I never saw Andre Ward hurting a guy so easily and badly in the last 4 years and I have never seen Chad Dawson GET HURT so easily and badly.
Do the math.
I don't wanna take anything away from Ward cause he is a very good technician but that wasn't the real Chad Dawson. We will never know how much the weight troubled Dawson cause he won't admit it, but to me Dawson looked DEAD AT THE WEIGHT. We also heard before the fight that Dawson got knocked out in sparring - something we also never heard before.
Let's be honest: When did Andre Ward knock out a top opponent?? - Froch, Abraham, Allan Green went all the distance. The Kessler-Ward fight was stopped cause of Ward's headbutts. And now you wanna tell me Ward can hurt a Light Heavyweight seemingly easily and bad like that??
Chad Dawson isn't known to have a bad chin.
As far as I'm concerned, this fight only would have done something for Ward's legacy if it would have happened at a catchweight or at light heavyweight.
Great win for Ward- yes. But a big big shadow stays.
Remember these same people big upping Ward are the same ones who bashed Pacman for having Bradley come up to 147, even though Bradley is way bigger than Pacman and even said he wont have to drain himself anymore.
They always love playing VICTIM but no one takes them serious because they never give credit to other fighters who are not like them, hypocrite.
Bradley is way bigger than Pac? Wtf.
Let me guess.. Oscar out weighted Pac and was massive compared to the dwarf sized Pac?
Ward gets credit because Dawson challenged... But most rhink Dawson is terribly overrated..whats the problem? Why do Pac fans have to be so insecure about his size....
It aint Wards fault he got challenged. Sure, not meeting him halfway was kind of a d move but it is what it is. Dude landed 29 punches...something tells me 2 pounds wasnt the difference...
Damn is all I got to say. I grew up with chad. He was a disgrace last nite quiting and shyt. We werent raise like that. Especially in a fight. He did look weak though. He couldnt push andre off like he did to bhop but damn andre was tattoing him from all angles. Chad look so slow, his punches were all long. no heart man. he should retire. fighter with no heart. I was upset last nite caus I felt like he was fighting for are neighborhood and shyt. lol. Props to andre ward
lol. you dont really believe that. Dawson didnt have energy at all.
Pacquiao jumped up 2 weight classes to fight Oscar which was absolutely crazy; Ward on the other hand fought in HIS weight class. Other than that I think your comment tells the truth and I see it exactly as you see it.

Wards win over dawson is overhyped because hbo built it up, Wards best win was against Froch. The funny thing is Ward is a cherry picker, he ducked Lucian Bute, and Froch got the credit, Ward should have just fought Bute but he lacked the confidence. Also he never fights out of California or Oakland, he gets every advantage from weight, ring size, home advantage etc.
Dawson has no killer instinct, he was shot and he couldn't pull the trigger, I laughed when HBO said Ward took away the jab, what jab dawson couldn't even pull the trigger that night, he didn't even throw a jab mostly tied up.
When dawson started tying up in the first round I knew he was weak, he wasn't keeping range and he was getting dropped by a guy who is the equivalent to Tim bradley in terms of power. Dawson took Pascals best punches and Pascal according to Hopkins hits like a mule and Dawson took those.
Also the same guys hyping up Wards win on youtube and message boards are the same bias racists who ****ting on Pacquiao for beating Cotto at a catchweight, even though like Dawsons Cotto agreed to terms. They took any credit away from Pacquiao, saying the reason Cotto lost was because of the 1 ;b catchweight, and they said Cotto never threw jabs anymore, they never gave credit to Manny for taking it away. Cotto was far more competitive than Dawson.
This is an example of over hyping and racial bias.
Ward is a very good fighter, but if this was Pacquiao who fought a guy coming down in weight they would have bashed him with 300 threads even before the site went on press tour.
Well the haters will bash Manny but lets be honest, Manny has already done this before with DLH. No one really bashed him for that one because DLH requested the weight. That is the big difference there. When someone request to fight at a certain weight then they have to man up to it. Its not the same as someone demanding you to fight at that weight that's when you can point the finger.
I think weight was an issue but not that big of an issue. I think if they had a rematch at 175 then Ward would still win but it will be a full 12 rounds with him winning probably every single round.
Why would you want to see Ward absolutely destroy Martinez?? Who's damn near 40 & can still make 154?? And who's never fought at 168?
wait, you expect pacquiao to go up a division and fight cotto, but when its martinez, he cant go up a division?
Cmon shawn this post is just pure BS
He didnt act like a drained fighter? Lets see, no punch resistance, no energy at all, slow, lethargic, inactive throwing 170 punches, landing 29 and not even bothering to avoid punches
Sounds like drained fighter to me
Well lets use this as an example.
Vs Marco Antoni Rubia, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. weighted in at 160lb. HBO has him coming into the ring at 180lb.
20lb difference.
Dawson weights in at 168, come in at 185
17lb difference.
So a bigger man, drains less, and some how weight drained when a smaller fighter who drains more isn't.
Look at the replays. Dawson was getting clipped right on the tip of the chin with power shots. Drained or not, most peoples legs will turn to jelly after a while. Plus, we act like Abraham has this glass chin. Same with Froch. This fight just tells you theres lions between 160-168.
I will say the weight most likely did have an effect. But not throwing and quitting is no excuse. Weve seen guys overmatched throw caution to the wind and throw and go out on their shield just to give themselves a chance. Dawson quit as soon as he realized Ward wasnt going anywhere imo. Ward MADE him quit. Dawson thought cuz he beat an old man that he could go into 168. Admirable as him accepting the terms may be... None of the guys Ward fought at 168 quit like Dawson did... Dawson went from a zoo into the wild facing a proven king at a weight class.
That rumor that Miranda dropped him (though "denied") definitely seems like it happened though..
such a simplistic way of explaining what happened last night. how about looking at what ward did? he controlled the distance, took away Dawsons jab and never really let chad set up his punches which is what dawson needs to do to be successful. all the while ward beat him to the punch and landed some nasty shots dawson never seen coming that really hurt him.
this is the same failed logic people used to discredit pacs win over cotto, hopkins win over pavlik etc. focus on the weight and completely ignore what the other guy was doing that made them look bad.
But completely ignoring the obvious drained weakness of dawson that allowed Ward to actually be THAT successful isnt fair either.
You dont have to be a ward hater to be honest and she Dawson was just a body in the ring and nothing else last night
I believe Andre Wards concerted body attack had more to do with that than any sort of a weight drain. They are many smaller fighters that drain more weight than Dawson had too that do just fine.
Dawson didn't act like a drained fighter. He had energy the whole night, he was just out fought, out thought, and out worked.
lol. you dont really believe that. Dawson didnt have energy at all.

None at all. He was literally a dead man in the ring. Couldnt take a punch and couldnt throw a punch either

Dawson is known to have a bad chin, what are you talking about? Do we need to go over the list of fighters that have hurt him?
okay so who hurt Chad Dawson before this fight? Who knocked him out? Big Light Heavyweights couldnt knock out Dawson and now suddenly Andre "no punching power" Ward hurts him with every punch?? You kidding me? Ward was fighting a dead man. I really dont know what to think of this fight. I would really want to give Andre Ward all the credit in the world, but somehow I cant. Why is that? Maybe cause it was very clear that Dawson wasnt himself at all
He was, unfortunately. No punch resistance, no energy.

So I guess if Floyd were to fight Sergio at 154, a weight he said he could make no problem, he won't get any credit either right??? Because Dawson said he could make 168 no problem.
It was a great win and performance by Ward, might be the best I've seen him. Obviously, it would have been a greater win had he gone up in weight.
Truth.....If Floyd was to fight Martinez it has to be at 160.
Go for that middleweight crown.
I think the weight did effect Dawson, but Ward pretty much just whupped that ass. Even at 175, I think Dawson would still get beat. Dawson had no answer for Ward's jab... and Dawson quit like a b!tch... Ward hand him beat mentally and physically
