I forgot this is going head to head with another event which is free so i take back what i said. But the gate will make up for the $$$ lost in viewers.

wow...some delusional high expectations in here...it'll be lucky if this tops 400k...JC Jr is a draw but Canelo is fighting too...that's the same target demographic.
There is no real broad appeal to this fight, it should still do well because it does appeal to a major fan group (plus hardcore boxing fans) but people need to realize anything over 300k is a success and if it gets above 400k that is a huge success.
I would say what I said in the other threads around 400k, it could certainly do more but I do think 400k is a good baseline.
These guys aren't exactly mainstream popular with the casual fan, but among the hardcore boxing crowd, this fight has been brewing for awhile, and there are many out there that either want to see Chavez Jr. prove that he's for real...OR, get pummeled and embarrassed. The fight will do good at the gate and probably end up selling out, and anything around the 500K range in PPV buys should be considered a great success for these fighters. However, with it being on Mexican Independence Day weekend, AND with the Chavez name, I wouldn't be surprised if it did some serious big numbers...not Pacquiao or Mayweather-type numbers, but well over half a million.
You guys need to weigh this against some more recent PPVs.
First, Cotto vs Marg 2 had a back story which featured across multiple Pac and Mayweaher PPVs. Cotto was a proven PPV draw too already and that did 600k.
Chavez Jr is not a proven PPV draw and his highest TV ratings had been 1.9 million against Rubio.Sergio has no name value inside the US with his TV ratings being under the 1 million mark.
For being presented to the US market they're going to need A LOT of multi channel promo to sell this fight. With that they might make 500k but I'd say about 400k without. I just don't see this beating Cotto vs Marg 2.
I don't think you guys understand HBO PPV buys are US only. Even if it does get put on PPV in Mexico HBO won't class those buys into their domestic release.
it will doo 800K buys
790k will be chavez fans 10k will be martinez fans
Probably a lot less. Are they showing this fight for free in Argentina, more importantly what time will it be in Argentina when this fight airs here?
I think it will do 475-500k
400k but who cares
this is a real fight baby
I bet it does more than this. There's no way a fight as anticipated as this one does so low. This is like Pacquiao-Mayweather one notch down. IMO even better cause nobody wants to see 2 faded fighters fight anymore.
Knew I'd seen this thread before. Thought it just got bumped :lol1:
The same discussion over and over. If you are a huge boxing fan you probably can discuss issues other than PPV #'s. No disrespect to TS but c'mon, change the topic.
Considering this is the first ppv fight 4 both (I know Chavez was on those Latin fury ones but this is a proper ppv) I think anything above 500,000 would be great business. Also the canelo fight being on at the same time will affect the numbers even tho people say it's a stupid fight it's free so people r bound 2 watch that n then download Chavez Martinez the morning after
