he has said he would be willing to fight ward for the right money and perhaps a catchweight. not sure what exact articles to link you to them, but i'm sure if you search around, you'll run into one. the difference the poster you quoted is saying is that martinez is willing to come down to 154 (even 150) to fight mayweather, while ward wants martinez to move up to 168. martinez has fought and won titles at 154 while he had never had a fight above 160. see the difference?
I'm saying Martinez is a solid MW, he really is. He may not be a big MW, but he's a solid MW. Floyd is a solid WW, maybe not a big WW, but a solid one. Floyd fighting at 154 is him campaigning way above what he should be fighting at. If Martinez fought at 168, he'd be campaigning at a weight class above what he probably should be, just like Floyd would be doing by fighting at 154, which he has.
All I was saying is that if Floyd should absolutely 100% have to fight at 154 against Sergio, a weight Floyd would be campaigning out which is a weight class above what he should be, why shouldn't Sergio absolutely take a risk and go above what his weight class should be and fight Andre Ward.
I realize Floyd's fought at 154 twice, yes he actually went a weight class above what he should be at, while Martinez has yet to do that. That's all.
I want Floyd-Sergio to happen, will it happen, I don't know. I know one thing, it doesn't absolutely have to happen. Floyd has to fight Pacquiao, while Martinez should honestly be focusing on Geale, Golovkin, Quillin/N'Jikam, and cleaning out MW to make his legacy.
Well, at this rate, according to NSB he should fight Golovkin...everybody should fight Golovkin.
Trout is a good technical fighter, just kind of waiting for that big fight, and he got one. We'll see if some of that hype was real. I've gone on record at least once...maybe just once...about some of Cotto's flaws/predictability after watching Mayweather - Cotto again, but I'm not entirely confident Trout does the job. One thing about Trout I wouldn't like in this fight is his habit to keep his right hand low, you can't do that against Cotto who throws a lot of hooks - and this is especially evident after Trout jabs, his hand retracts to his waist line (one could suspect this is exactly the kind of flaw Team Cotto saw). You would be telegraphing the time at which Cotto should throw his signature left hook to the head. Plus, I don't think Trout has the power to keep Cotto at bay. It's a good fight, I'm just not convinced Trout could pull it off. In the months to come, I'll try to find a few more Trout fights to watch, so that I may gather a more concise prediction.
People shouldn't even disrespect Cotto like that and start to look for opponents for Trout after their match up :nonono: Let him actually go out and BEAT Cotto first because while I think Trout has a "SHOT" it is certainly no guarantee and it won't be easy to beat Cotto in NY
just because they think it's a safer fight
I don't think that's why Cotto picked Trout and I don't think that's their mentality... I truly think Brundage would be the easier fight.
I voted Mayweather but that fight might not be available. I really believe Mayweather will return to his true weight class of 147 and his last fight at 154 was for Cotto only. All of the voting choices would be great opportunities for Trout. If he beats Cotto by a wide margin he would be in a good position to challenge anybody including Mayweather.A fight with Floyd would make him the most money and a win over Floyd would make him the biggest star so I voted Mayweather if he can get the fight.

If he hasn't seen it now, he won't. (I think he knows the difference, he just won't admit it).
So Floyd should have to fight Sergio 100% but Sergio shouldn't fight Ward at a weight between 160 and 168??? If Floyd could fight Sergio and that's a possibility, than Sergio fighting Ward could be a possibility. That's my only criticism of Sergio, is he calls out smaller fighters but has shown no interest in fighting any of the SMW's at a higher weight.

If Trout beats Cotto, then the sky is the limit.
He has a lot of options.
I'd like to see him fight Kirkland, Canelo, Lara, K9, the list goes on and on.

Martinez called out Floyd at 154, you know where Floyd is a 2 time champion. It's Floyd fans that keep bringing up 160. Meanwhile Martinez has never in his career fought at 168 & has no intention of doing so. The difference is astronomical really.
Yes Martinez is ducking Ward because he has been twice crowned a 168lb champion.:dunce:

Should we acknowledge the fact that Pac beat Oscar in a one sided shutout and made him quit on the stool, or that Pac KO'd Hatton in two? Or that Pac KD Mosley, or are these not relevant, and only Marquez is? Did Floyd do any of that? Use some logic, kid.
It's been noted. But what does anything that you posted have to do with december 2012 or 2013??
I don't think Floyd will fight Alvarez until Alvarez fights Cotto/Trout winner or gets a few solid wins against Top 154 lb fighters.
I want Floyd to fight Pacquiao because they are STILL two of the best fighters in the world, as evident by Manny beating Bradley, and yes he did beat Bradley handily and convincingly.
I want Floyd-Sergio, but to say Floyd is ducking a MW is ridiculous. I guess Sergio is ducking Andre Ward then.

Pacman can't even beat Marquez convincingly. There really isn't any reason for that fight. I want to see the best fighters that can compete at 154 fight each other there. Both top 5 pfp (realistically).
After Marquez schools Pacman on december 8th, I wonder if you'll still feel that way. I think what you want is for Floyd to fight Pacman because you know he'll win. But you're not so sure if he can beat Martinez. Like I said though, if Martinez does beat Chavez & issues the call-out & Floyd fights ginger, (which he will), it's a duck.

I think Floyd-Sergio could happen, but it doesn't absolutely need to. Would it be great and do I want to see it....absolutely. Don't get so defensive/sensitive, really.
Floyd needs to fight Pacquiao and vice-versa before anything else though.

You should be all kidding. You obviously don't know what you're talking about there. There's only 1 person I know Floyd will absolutely duck at 154. That's Martinez if, (big if) he beats Chavez.

Only so you can say Floyd is ducking Trout.....I'm only half kidding.
GBP is obviously hoping Cotto beats Trout, so they can make Cotto-Canelo for May. I think Canelo will probably unify with Bundrage, not a bad fight, it's a solid unification with a Top 10 SWW, something he hasn't fought since Rhodes (who was ehhh at best).
But if Trout wins, I can either see him landing the Canelo fight or the Lara fight, once Lara smokes Vanes. But to be fair, Trout pretty much ducked Lara.
