Do you reckon Tyson could have got to the top of the heavyweight division and got his belts back if he stayed with Freddie Roach in his fight with Clifford Ettiene he looked sharp focused and hungry only if he stayed that way.
You do know Cus died BEFORE Tyson got to the top right?
Poet
Yes and Tyson dedicated himself to winning the Heavyweight strap for Cus..So even in death Cus was Tyson's motivation...
Cus was running things. he hired rooney and atlas to train tyson PHYSICALLY.
ever heard of MENTAL training? advising? cus was the person who laid out mike's training menu and how to train mike properly.
dude i'm not even sure if you're serious or trolling.
is that not what i said man?
Personally I'll never buy that Tyson's natural potential was suffering a beat down from James Buster Douglas who was Koed by Tony Tucker and outfought by Jesse Ferguson (and both were beaten Decisively by Tyson).
Tyson fanatics however do tend to overrate him tremendously.
He was overrated anyway. Resume full of bums.
Fighters like Mike peak early, so no, it didn't make a difference. I respect Mike as a fighter, I just think he was misguided by his management.
Most people say that Tyson never reached his full potential I strongly disagree Tyson did reach his full potential it just wasn't that good.
It amazes me how many people actually bought into the ridiculous media hype.
Your talking crazy talk now..Tyson was a hell of a fighter, imo one of the best..He made really good boxers look like absolute trash..Tyson at his peak was a monster, but without Cus he lack the most important thing..The thing that got him to the top..Discipline..Had he held on to this,he would have had a long career..
IMO Jail ruined Tyson,Cus passing away also was the start of the ending...

Well what can i say, you're alone in the world. The rest of the world believes that Cus D'amato trained Tyson, including Cus D'amato himself

Nah bro, Cus trained him... one way or another Cus trained him. You know you don't always have to hold the mitts or a heavy bag for a fighter to train a guy right?

Cus was more of an advisor and a father figure..HE NEVER TRAINED MIKE
give it up. cus trained tysson early on. read the damn book.
you're making yourself look stupid. research it if you want, or do you want me to google it for you for reference perhaps?
He was both, I kept up with this stuff when it was actually going on in the 80's.
Are you trying to argue that because Cus wasn't as hands on with the training he wasn't really training him? He used surrogates (Rooney, Atlas) for the hands on stuff because he was older but HE ran things.
Peekaboo was the style that he developed.
