I vote Dawson. He may have old fighters on his resume, but those old fighters were among the best, if not the best in the division. Whoever wins their fight clearly has the better resume, it would be the best name on either's record to this point.
He's really not thought. Most of his fights are at home with friendly judges and ref's that let him get away with fouling all night long.
He hasn't faced any adversity yet. His career is rigged.
lol
goofball?
If you look at Andre Ward's resume', it says "Super Six Tournament Winner" and "Last American Olympic Gold Medalist". Those two bullet points puts him ahead of Dawson in my view. No doubt Chad has the bigger names on his resume but Ward faced the tougher and "more prime" competition. What does Chad's resume' say? Maybe, "Retirement home champion".
thats retarded man.
this is pro boxing, not the ams so the gold medal isnt included. the super six champion is just a title, chad did the same thing ward did and cleaned up 175 without a tournament (not this reign, before he lost and regained the title).
dawsons competition is significantly better than wards anyways, thats what matters. some of them might be older and past their prime but even past their primes they are better than most guys on wards resume.
look at green and johnson for example, johnson is older but made easy work of green regardless bcuz hes just a higher level fighter. the same way he, tarver and hopkins are higher level fighters and better W's than kessler, abraham, bika and everyone else ward fought except for froch.
if you take dawsons 6-7 best wins the one fight against froch is the only W on wards resume that can match any one of em. if you combined their best wins and made a list of 10, 7-8 of them would be dawsons including the top 6-7.
wards resume is very good, but whats been most impressive is the way hes been beating these guys. in terms of pure competition dawson is clearly ahead of him.
I would say Ward he fought the best at the weight Dawson beat fighters on there way out.
Exactly! Most of Dawson's big names were over 40 when he fought them. It's hilarious that some of these posters discredit Manny Pacquiao for fighting over the hill fighters but then turn around and give Dawson credit for doing the same thing. LOL
Those weren't Ward's signature wins by any means, although I think Bika is a tougher fighter than you give credit for. Green tunred out to be not very good, but he was a Top 10 SMW at the time, was Sakio Bika.
Actually he wasnt top 10, the RING bumped him up to #10 right after the fight was announced.
It is closer than people realize. But Ward's resume has more fighters in their prime. Dawson fought an old B-Hop and lost to Pascal.
I could say that Kissler wasn't in his prime and he fought a weaker Arthur Abraham not to mention he had the easiest road in the Super 6

He was behind in the fight with Taylor and this was a post Pavlik shot Taylor. AA was not rated at SMW. The Pascal fight was razor close, and he lost to Kessler.
Yes, he beat Bute but he also lost to Dirrell and Ward.
And tbh, I think Bute will stomp him in the rematch.
So even though Froch-Kessler was close, you describe that as a clear loss. But yet, when Froch-Pascal was close, you describe that as razor close. And Taylor was past it after Pavlik, but I wouldn't describe his skills as shot to s**t in 2009.
Abraham was still a solid/decent win. I like both Ward and Dawson, but I think you put way too much stock in Dawson beating a 47 year old Hopkins, and his rematch wins over Johnson and Tarver.
Dawson has the better resume right now, given Ward didn't even start having big fights until 2009. But since late 2009 or so, Ward clearly has the better wins. Johnson was a solid win for Dawson, but his biggest fights prior to fighting Dawson he lost as well. He lost the rematch to Tarver and lost to Woods. I agree Tarver coming off the Woods win was a really good win though.
These guys are two of my favorite fighters, looking forward to it. Still wish the fight was at a CW or 175 though.

So Ward wasn't just better than Kessler, Abraham, and Froch??? Well now if Ward goes on to have an amazing career, I know the excuses everyone will have for his career.
AA wasn't a top 10 SMW since he did nothing at SMW.
Bika is a journeyman, Green is a bum, Froch is ok but overrated.
Ward's best wins are Froch and a cheatfest vs. Kessler in Oakland. Dawson has the better resume based on his 4 fights w/ Johnson and Tarver, his destruction of Hopkins 2x, his win vs Adamek and going to Canada to fight Pascal.
How is Froch just ok even though he's beaten Pascal, Taylor, Abraham, Bute, and was in a fight with Kessler that could have gone either way???
Another thing, even if Dawson beats Ward, i'd still rank Hopkins as a better win, with Ward as the second best win.
For Ward, if he beats Dawson, it would absolutely be the best win of his career to date.
Just my opinion.
Even though Hopkins is an ATG and was still a high ranked fighter, if Dawson goes down to 168 and beats Ward right now, that'll be his best win by far in my book. Ward is hands down a Top 5 fighter in the world right now, and he's fighting at Ward's weight.
dawson's been at the top for a while and he's put a lot of names on his resume
his resume takes a hit, considering that he did lose to jean pascal, who sucks, frankly.
ward's on the better run, beating much more prime and viable fighters of late.
i'd say that dawson has the better resume, but i think that ward will eventually eclipse him.
Like I said, Dawson took a step back with that loss. But then turned around and took two steps forward by beating a ATG/HOF/Ring Champion Bernard Hopkins, who had just schooled Pascal twice. I think he really redeemed himself with that win.
Of course no win is more redeeming than an actual win against the guy who beat you. But I'm hoping Dawson beats Ward and then fights a big money fight with either Froch or Kessler, which would be stylistically easy matchups for him, especially Froch. Then finally move back up to 175 after that 2-fight tour at 168. Dawson-Pascal II can wait until the end of 2013, when Dawson had hopefully beaten Ward/Froch at 168.
Another thing, even if Dawson beats Ward, i'd still rank Hopkins as a better win, with Ward as the second best win.

Chad Dawson by far. Even with moving back a step, by losing to Pascal, he went on and took two steps forward by beating the Ring Champion Bernard Hopkins.
Hopkins, Adamek, Tarver 2x, Johnson 2x, Diaconu. Those are his absolute best wins. If people want to mention Green for Ward, i'd have to mention Harding for Dawson, so add Harding. Harding was a much better fighter than Green. Harding has beaten Griffin and Tarver, while Green hasn't beaten anybody at all, not even Edison Miranda. He's lost to any one of any note that he's fought.
Hopkins, Adamek, Tarver 2x, Johnson 2x, Diaconu, Harding.
Kessler, Froch, Bika, Abraham, Miranda, Green.
Dawson by far.
