you think he would have been the best? joe bumped around 180's, eventually 190's and in the low 200's. would he have been too small for the new heavyweight crop or would his skill set and ko power keep him ahead of the pack?
KO Vitali - Possible I suppose but rather unlikely at least IMO
Out jab Wlad? Never in a million years.
Ok so why when I asked who can be named who fought exactly like a Louis a legend nobody ever answered me
why is it nobody who made pro with those exact styles he had made it big time not even a mid carder its even no names who fight better then he did lhw-hw since 70s
These people are crazy its easy to see why nobody has made it like I said trainers seen his styles and his whole era is trash even the 70s had way better movers
Louis would be destroyed even in sparing fighting a person like a foreman ali Lyle Frazier and anybody else from 80s-90s its easy to see this
Only crazy idiots say he would do good what is it based off of the trash he fought which never would make pro in 60s bunch of cult members like everybody here is a idiot who even said he would do good like watch other era's see how people fight from 70s-now
he never would make pro with that outdated style they would destroy him in sparring in 70s-now
And lets not forget Vitali is one of the greatest ko artists in heavyweight history. Its no mistake he has a KO% 86.96
I strongly disagree with that. Its not only about how many people you KO, its about how you do it. Vitali is not a big power puncher.
Mankind evolved in size from Louis's era to this one. So if Joe Louis was around today he probably would be a 6'4" 228lbs punching machine, having several fights against the Klitchkos, winning some and maybe losing some as well.
The rest of the division would not be on his level.
I'm not 100% sure that he would beat the Klitschkos. But he would kick the crap out of everyone else, and I don't think that's debatable.
cosign..........
I'm not saying I think the Klitschkos would beat Joe Lewis at all, but are you guys seriously implying that the way a fighter fared against Primo Carnera would be any indication on how he'd do against Lennox/Wlad/Vitali???? Come on.....
PS... Carnera was 6'5 and three-quarters, he was known as being 6'9 for publicity.
Close to size and the same style of fighting as Vitaly. How else should you judge a h2h match up?
A fighter's absolute prime is when his body is in it's physical prime and he has the experience to make full use of it. It lasts until his reflexes start to deteriorate which inevitably begins no later than early to mid 30s or earlier in the case of some fighters. Wlad is NOT currently in his prime. He's past-prime. His opposition has been getting progressively weaker every year for the past five years which fools a lot of superficial twats into thinking he's better than ever.

I'm not even a fan of Wlad I'm just stating a fact different fighters peak at different ages you should know that. But yes Wlad had made improvements and is a better boxer than he was when he fought Sanders.
Tyson, Lewis, Hopkins, Martinez, Vargas just a few fighters off the top of my head that peaked at very different ages.

Excuse me? When you're 27 years old and have 41 professional fights you're in your fvcking prime.

A fighters age and a fighters prime are not synonymous some fighters are late bloomers some fizzle out before there mid 20s.
Wlad has clearly improved since then.
he'd be the best. i think vitali would have an argument though.match up wise vit is a top three heavy imo.
Louis would be the best heavyweight today. Vitaly really doesn't match up well with him. He's much better, but he has the same (almost identical) style as Carnera would was beaten to a pulp by Louis. Wlad could give him problems, but its doubtful his chin would hold IP to Joe's powerful and pinpoint punches.
How would todays HW's fared in Louis's day? Fighting 15 or sometimes 20 round fight every month or so. Today they have 2 or 3 months to prepare and pull out if they get an injury, today they train to peak at fight time. In those days you had to be ready to fight all the time and fight injured or you wouldn't eat. The majority of todays fighters wouldn't make it.
Straight up, soooo many HWs punch themselves out by the 6th round, take Chisora Fury for example. By the 6th round Chisora was gassed lmao. Just because you've got gigantic muscles and bulging abs doesn't mean you're in shape.
When Ali fought Foreman in Africa they fought in an outside ring, the temperature outside was literally over 100 degrees with around 95% humidity. Same with the Ali Frazier fight that went 15 rounds, the reported temperature was around 107 degrees with 90% humidity making it feel like 120 degrees!
There isn't a single HW today that could endure that kind of heat, HWs of the past were tough as nails and in incredible shape.

Vitali's body would have crumbled fighting the schedule required in Louis's day.

Lets remember here Joe did have a glass chin and these behemoths of heavyweights now hit harder than before
:pat:
He was knocked out twice in 69 fights. One of those two knockouts was by one of the greatest punchers of all time, Marciano, when Louis was far past his prime.
Man, what a laugh. Today's fighters don't even know the meaning of training and fighting. Those old guys KILLED themselves in training, fought 10 fights a year, the best fought the best, none of this ducking and dodging crap, making excuses about pay-per-view percentage and other bull****.
Guys like Dempsey and Louis would've given today's heavyweights hell, pure hell. I'm not saying they would win every fight, because let's face it, the size disparity would disadvantage them a lot. But they would leave most of today's heavyweights in the hospital.
