I believe it was after Martinez beat Macklin. Ward was asking Martinez to move up in weight and fight him on Twitter. But God forbid Dawson asks him to go up 2 lbs. I truly believe Dawson said what he said on that interview just to get Ward's attention. If that wasn't the case he wouldn't had asked for a catchweight.
yup ,i think it was way before the macklin fight too
..and all sergio could say was " IM TOO SMALL " like a damn weakling
it exposed his hypocrisy too given he called out smaller fighters...
lol pugas back. *****s everywhere beware. bahahaha.
1. Martinez asked to come down to 150 to fight these so called smaller fighters who had belts at 154
2. Ward won't drop no weight this guy is a ***** made and overrated as hell
3. Manny Pacquiao ducked Martinez to fight Margarito at catchweight for Martinez's vacated belt get over it
1. yeah he'd fight way smaller fighters but not noticeably bigger ones..f0cken hypocite
2. ward never said he would'nt drop in weght like a CW
3. margo is sergio's daddy
yup ,i think it was way before the macklin fight too

yeah, i wish ward would have moved up for this fight as well. dawson holds the wbc and ring LHW belts, why would he not want to fight for those and claim another championship in another division? :dunno: it's still going to be a great fight, no doubt about that. but it would've been slightly better if ward would have moved up and perhaps fought this somewhere outside his hometown. like staples or msg, that would have been incredible to see it go down over there. no matter what happens though (dawson losing), he still gets my respect for moving down in weight to challenge the no. 1 SMW in his hometown.
I agree with both of u guys post. That's the only think I'm disappointed in ward for. He should have went for another division, ring, lineal title. The opportunity may not come around again.
that's my gripe with ward. i mean, **** a catchweight. whatever happen to moving up and taking a champions title to become a multi division champ?

sounds like a contradiction to me.honestly what difference does it make where the fight is? maybe ward should have some fights outside of oakland but at the same time he is the one with the leverage thats what happends when you beat everyone that is put in front of you and when you are fighting the best in your division.
what do you mean by your last statement?no one was asking for a ward-dawson fight so who would of really cared? should pacquiao fight sergio martinez at 160 because sergio would rather fight at 160?dawson said i will fight at 168 so he should fight at 168 or shut up no one forced him to call out ward at 168
Contradiction? How so? Cause I said Im becoming LESS fond of him? I guess...
So Dawson has no leverage because.....?
Him as well has cleared out his division except for Pascal who is already scheduled to fight and that first fight was straight up bs. My last statement was a simple question, if Dawson had called out Ward without any weights being mentioned would this fight be happening right now? And I said I don't think it would be happening cause the dude is not even willing to budge 2 lbs. I bet you it would be easier for Ward to put on those 2 lbs than it is for Dawson to lose 7.
Actually, i don't have a problem with Ward. People here will tell you the fighters i have a problem with and Ward is not one of them. To tell you the truth tho, I'm becoming less fond of him. Dude wants to be the best and P4P but can't fight out of Oakland cause nobody knows him.
Do you guys really think this fight would be happening right now if Dawson said "Ward come fight me"? No weights mentioned. I don't think so... But maybe I'm being bias.

This.
I don't know why people like to change history, like one can't just google everything that happened.
They said this, then they said Ward drained Dawson. Both times, Wards name was mentioned first. But both times, it is changed to "Ward did this" and "Ward called out that person".
Im not trying to change anything around bro. I don't remember Martinez calling out Ward. I just remember Martinez winning and right afterwards Ward tweeting some sh1t like "let's fight." And that's when DiBella came out saying Martinez is a small MW and a fight with Ward was probably not possible.

Ward is fighting in his hometown and at his weight class. Forget the belts. It's obvious Dawson don't care about those cause at 170 Ward's belt wouldnt had been on the line.

seems like you just have a problem with ward.dawson didn't have to call ward out let alone at 168 so thats on dawson

First of all, Martinez said it would be an honor to fight a great champion like Andre Ward and that he would consider moving up to face him. This is when minor talks surfaced and Ward said what he said.
This.

its on Dawson. he should have never called him out at 168. once he did that, he essentially closed the door at negotiations because they knew he would agree. doesn't matter much at this point. this is still a very good, challenging fight for both men. I doubt Dawson will be drained but we will see. ward may get his way in negotiations but that's wat he's supposed to do. either way he still fights great fighters so I don't see why ppl complain about his advantages. there's a few guys out there who fight ****ty fights and still try to milk every advantage they can.
