skilled?
that's quite broad/open ended.
mayweather
whitaker
toney
hopkins
here's where it gets hard..
can i include ray leonard? that makes it easy. in terms of his pure boxing skills i'd say leonard is on tier with mayweather and whitaker, and of course his other strengths make him the best boxer of the men listed by a long shot. leonard was mean, durable, aggressive, a knockout puncher at WW, all things that floyd is not, and outside of whitaker's chin being very good, that whitaker is not. he might have been mean, . he was too weak for it to matter.
if i cannot, there are a few options for the final spot:
juan manuel marquez
ricardo lopez
roy jones jr
lennox lewis
MarK "Too Sharp" Johnson (its a shame people don't care about the smaller division because he dominated that smaller Division for a decade straight and even when he was washed up he was still able to defeat guys like Fernando Montiel....seen some people question if he should be a Hall of Famer earlier this year which was fukin Laughable to me
Also: James Toney, EVANDER HOLYFIELD!!! (Holyfield would out-box Mike Tyson EVEN IN HIS PRIME), Lennox Lewis (when motivated, kind had what Chad Dawson currently have, extremely talented but comes off as too laid back), Sweat Pea of course, Riddick Bowe which may surprise a lot of people but Bowe when in shape was a MONSTER in that ring, moved so smooth for his size)
Oscar De Lay Hoya! Yes that Oscar was very skilled OVERALL and his defense was VERY UNDERRATED, one of the best a Parrying Punches with his Guard which is why his face still looks the same when he first start boxing lol, also had a excellent jab and used his size well
I could go on and on, but the 90's and the early 2000's had some very SKILLED fighters...currently it is only maybe handful who are truly SKILLED FIGHTERS
:lol1: @ Hamed
a 40 Year old Featherweight throwing 16 punch combos at Lightweights is more skillfull than anything Hamed ever did
Marquez > Hamed
In technique, greatness, talent and skills
I knew some people would have this opinion, Marquez is a superior fighter because of the combination of all his attributes, he has superior technique, impeccable timing and accuracy. But could he stand in front of world champions with his hands by his side, avoiding punches, hitting incredible angles, throwing lead left hooks, and shooting straight right hands. To me that is incredible skill, Marquez perfected a fundamental style, and obviously himself has tremendous skill, but for pure skill I would have naz.

Equal on talent I'd say. Marquez will go down as the era's most underrated

For me skills are being able to do things out of the ordinary; moves or shots. I think often people get skills and correct technique confused. Being skilful in any sport is being able to complete a movement or technique which has a high degree of difficulty, taking this into consideration my list would go as follows:
Mayweather
Roy Jones
Pernell Whitaker
Sugar Ray Leonard
Bernard Hopkins
James Toney
Naseem Hamed
On pure skill I would have the guys above.
