That fight should never be shown again, footage of that said fight should be burned.Man if no 1 had ever watched boxing before they would never watch it again after seeing that crap.Wow we waited years for that rematch and thats what we got?Hopkins fell down for anything and any reason, the only excitement was at the end of the 6th round when i thought it was going to be a brawl and then in the 7th..back to the borefest

I dug up the 1st fight and watched that. The second one never happened!! :drive:
Roy was sonning my dude on the inside as well....Roy would ALWAYS beat B.Hop at their best imo
That's what makes watching these fight so much tougher...you always see those glimpses, maybe it only lasts a round, or 30 seconds, or just a flurry...
I'm only old enough to have watched one full generation of fighters from the 90s fade out and it's still hard watching the ones who are still around fade off like they do!! but damm, I still watch every time for those small moments that u are talking about
I bought this fight, can't believe you could watch this fight more than once. This fight set boxing back big time, 2 fighters that looked and acted their age, instead of showing their skill. It was even worse than Roy's 3rd fight with Tarver.
I think I would have fallen asleep if I ever watched it again, I fell asleep watching Wlad vs Haye (what a letdown after all of Haye's mouth).

That's probably where Roy would make sure he won comfortably in their primes, inside. He was so fast and so good with his punches at close range, even in this terrible fight he did well against Hopkins there.
It's one of the most impressive things Roy did against Toney, maybe the most impressive, was how he was masterful at close range.
To be honest, Hopkins looked scared of an over the hill Roy Jones. I guess he imagined the 1993 version standing in front of him. Jones had nothing to trouble Hopkins with yet Hopkins still played it as safe as he could.
It was an awful fight and one that Hopkins probably would rather forget despite gaining "revenge". I will always respect Hopkins's great skill but this just wasn't one of his better showings and casts some doubt to whether he could have ever truly defeated a prime Roy Jones, partly due to the lack of confidence he showed going up against him. The possibilty of losing again seemed a nightmare scenario to him and as a result he only hoped to get by with an ugly decision, instead of a decisive finish.
Not asking for a 45 year old man to push for a KO but he looked better against a likely more dangerous opponent than old Jones in Pascal.
Oh, what the hell, this fight is on a local Florida sports channel right now. Why is everyone showing it?
EDIT: LMAO, its in the 8th, Bernard hit Roy with two huge, hard rabbit punches, Roy hit one of his own, and Bernard went down to knee immediately, whining.
I can't remember if I streamed this one or actually bought the PPV but I watched it live and would never try to watch it again.
I feel bad for ppl in the future who will see these two names on BoxRec and check the fight out......it's really only good as reference point to put into context the Pascal turnaround and be amazed that Bhop pulled that off.
combined age of over 80...combined fights runs over 100 deep...combined rounds fought must be a crazy number as well...The Gods are past their primes....it was ugly but they've rocked enough houses and elite fighters to get passes at this stage of the careers....LEGENDS!!!!
They should have granted us a rematch back in 2001 though, no denying that.

Damn. This was something Ive always been afraid to admit.
I've never seen this fight either.
No shame. After Roy got KOd in his tuneup against Green, this fight should not have been made. Let alone been put on Pay Per View.
there was another thread about this earlier.. Jones was in survival mode all night, Hopkins was pushing for the KO. Can't make a good fight when one fighter's just trying to stay alive. This fight was a mismatch, Hopkins was way too good, he nearly completely nullified Jones offense. Jones was a shell of himself and Hopkins still had all the skills.
i don't remeber any of what you posted what i remember was a horrible looking fight with what looked like 2 old men fighting with not anything really happening from either side as far as punches landed and the 1 thing that stands out the most in that fight was all bernards acting
I'm a massive, massive Roy fan from way back, and I've never whatched that fight. Never will.
