I just don't get it personally, he's top 3.. 4 if you wanna put Ward above him but he's certainly better than Martinez and Donaire.
Anyone want to explain why they rank them above Juan?
I've been saying this for forever... I think they only do it to promote the new generation in Donaire and Martinez...
Donaire definitely shouldn't be... They should drop him drastically until he gets another knockout or a least a decisive victory
And Martinez? I mean beating Williams by KO and Pavlick is good, but what has he done since than? Even if he beats JCC Jr IMO he should still be behind Marquez but whatev's... At least they're promoting the next gen
I have him at #2 behind Floyd, Martinez right at 3 and Ward and Bradley filling out the rest of the top 5. Donaire is an overrated ducker, who's best wins are tiny dudes.
Aren't you a Canelo fan???
I'm guessing you mean official win. By that logic Bradley should be above Donaire and Martinez on your list.
A lot of ppl had Pac-Marquez 3 split for either guy...... It was a close fight that Pac got the nod in.... Pac-Bradley was pretty much unanimous for one guy
Ever since he left GBP and went to Top Rank. He fought Pac and became 0 for 3. Against Pac he didn't do enough to win the third fight. He let the 11th and 12th round slip away from him and didn't take the risk of landing anything big. In the last rounds of that fight. He has fought a bunch of tune ups ever since. Now he wants to fight Pac for a 4 time. For what, everybody is over the Pac vs Marquez thing 'its' time to move on. He's had his chances like the Buffalo Bills in the early 90's. He's had his chances agains't Pac and he blew it. No way the world wants to see Pac vs Marquez 4. I have him on my P4p list at 6.
I can't put Marquez above Pac no matter what though, even if you think he won the fights he would never beat Margarito (@150), Clottey, Mosley or Cotto @ 147.
and since Pacquiao is the same size roughly as Marquez P4p it makes him greater.
Marquez is under Sergio but above Donaire imo....Floyd, Sergio, Marquez and Ward are the top dogs p4p imo....after Floyd you can place the other 3 anywhere from 2-4 and I won't have a problem with it :boxing:
JMM needs a couple of good wins. He is in my top 5 p4p for sure. An all time great IMO! He just needs some good BIG wins! Not controversial or almost close wins...Some without a doubt, wins
because JMM OVERRATED... he Fights BUMS everytime... the only win JMM has that is a Hall of Fame Fighter is Barrera... n that was a ROBBERY... even Barrera said it was a Robbery.... JMM Fights BUMS all the time he should never be a Top 10 P4p Fighter
JMM 4-1 2 ko's with Fendchenko and Ramos being merely tuneups
Donaire 5-0 2 ko's
Martinez 5-0 4 ko's
With the Pavlik/Williams and Montiel wins being better then any W JMM was able to muster in that same stretch
I'm guessing you mean official win. By that logic Bradley should be above Donaire and Martinez on your list.
I hate the whole idea of Pound4Pound, but Martinez has been knocking out every opponent in front of him for the past 2 years. And outside of Darren Barker, they've all been world class fighters.
Donaire hasn't been as impressive, but he is the only person to ever stop Montiel and so far, he's the only person to knock down Vasquez Jr. and Mathebula...
Outside of the close loss to Pac(which many people consider a win) he hasn't done anything the last two years...Just taken a bunch of tune ups. Even his win against Katsidis doesn't look impressive after seeing him lose to Ricky Burns and Albert Mensah.
I have him at #2 behind Floyd, Martinez right at 3 and Ward and Bradley filling out the rest of the top 5. Donaire is an overrated ducker, who's best wins are tiny dudes.
i like this sir

he's a good fighter and better than Donaire but he doesn't have the quality opponents in his division for him to prove it.
Even still Marquez has much more to his game than Martinez
JMM is one of my all-time favorite boxers and skill-wise, I'd say he is better than Martinez but he should go after the other top fighters out there now instead of chasing another Pac fight. He should bust up on Garcia or Khan, I would love those fights instead of another Pac fight.
I really wish that Broner and JMM were in the same class so that JMM could end dude's career.
Winning streaks? The fk...
Compare opposition homie.

Because Martinez is beating undefeated guys or nearly undefeated guys and by KO, his next fight will be no different. I have JMM in my top 5 p4p but Martinez is ahead of him at this moment......how people can discredit Martinez is beyond me, he is the type of fighter that can bring boxing back into the limelight.

I haven't had him out of my top 3 for years now, and after the way he fought against Pacquiao in the third fight I am baffled that people don't have him automatically in the top 3. He has a case for the second spot.
No, I wasn't talking about being ranked higher or lower. Im talking about the so called streaks MJ mentioned. You can't compare Donaire's opposition to Marquez's...
Marquez has taken way better opposition back to back to back. While Donaire fights a real opponent in 2-3 year intervals. Can't compare Donaire's resume to Marquez's either... not even close.
If Katsidis and Diaz went on to do good things after he fought them, then it would make sense. They weren't much before he fought them, and they didn't amount to much after he fought them lol. Losing to Pac twice and Floyd makes his resume better (just talking about the past 4 years)?
Even if you do that, it still wouldn't justify having Marquez above them. I would only put him above them if the mythical P4P list was based on skill level.
