Floyd, Pac, Martinez, Ward, and the Broner.....
Gamboa is one hell of a fighter. If Broner easily beats Gamboa, or knocks him out, he solidifies himself as one of the best right now, and is on a path to be one of the best of his era.
Actually yes. Mayweather made extensive use of his superior reach.
He has superior reach over just about everyone. And reach doesn't change with size. **** point.
Im still failing to see peoples logic. So... because Broner just failed to make 130lb, he gets to fight a 126lber at 135lb to become a p4p elite?
Seriously. How does this make any sense what so ever to people?
Were u complaining about Rios fighting Gamboa?
Was weight why Mayweather beat Marquez??? Did he impose his size on him??? Not really, he's just the better man.
If Broner and Gamboa end up fighting, the better man will win. I just hope it happens at 135 once Gamboa has a fight there first.

Even though Gamboa is a P4P talent, he's not worthy of being in the top 10 right now because he hasn't beaten anybody in a long time. If Broner beats him I'd rank him 11 or 12.
So now titles mean something now? 154 is Floyd 5th weight class, 168 would be Sergio's 4th weight class.
Also didn't PAC when a title at 154?
IMO @154 Floyd would beat Sergio at 154, I can't speak on him fighting at 160 because Floyd has never fought at that weight
Titles as a boxing fan has always meant something to me. Well the 4 world title anyway & the Ring of course.
At 154 is where I'd like the fight, never mentioned 160.
Like I said if Pacman won't fight a healthy Cotto there's no reason to assume he'd fight Martinez, hell he won't even fight Floyd in his weight class.
Either way I just want him back in the ring. I'm one who is never really sure how old the cuban fighters are, so I hope we didn't miss out on much of his prime years.
I don't think the boxers' ages are questionable. The baseball players...that's a different story. lol
What does concern me is how old some of the best Cubans are. A guy like Rigondeaux, at 31, has relatively little prime left. Meanwhile, he's a rookie pro. I agree, the sooner Gamboa gets back in the ring the better. We're all missing out on an amazing talent. Guys like him are uncommon.

Fair points. If he eliminates the recklessness, he's a handful for everyone from 135-147.
I'd love to agree on the 147 part, but I don't think Gamboa's frame can handle it. I think his outer limit is 140...and that's pushing it. He'd look like a mini-James Toney at welterweight. lol
Do you feel the same way about PAC fighting Sergio? Sergio has called PAC out numerous times! Also do you feel the same way about Sergio moving up to fight guys at 168lbs?
When all else fails, bring up Pacman. Why would I feel the same about Pacman Martinez. Pacman won't even fight Miguel Cotto without draining him. He lost to Marquez & couldn't put away a gimpy Bradley. Obviously he isn't top fighter material anymore.
Martinez has never fought at 168, but Floyd is a 154lb champ. So the comparison is moot.
Some on here think Floyd beats Pacquiao and Canelo like taking candy from a baby. I don't think these fights are a certain win for Floyd. I think he could lose. If Floyd stays at 154 he should fight Martinez at that weight. If he drops the 154 tittle and holds on to his 147 pound tittle then I am fine with him fighting the best welterweights possible. He should not have to fight above his natural weight class because he is to good for fighters his own size.
Perhaps.
Yuri's a cocky guy. He's been a great fighter his whole life. He's amazingly fast and athletic. Guys like that often like to show off. It's nothing unusual. A lot of people have pointed out that Gamboa drops his hands. It's quite evident. What a lot of people fail to see, or acknowledge, is that Yuri tends to do that when he's out of range. Gamboa gets hit at a less-than-average rate, in my opinion. When he does get tagged, it's usually when he's being reckless. But Yuri has toned down that recklessness in his last few fights. He's visibly improved...and that's bad news for everyone else.

Nothing really, because both fighters will be different from when they fought Ponce. I'd say Gamboa is the better fighter, but the hands thing is just something I noticed. I think the very best fighters can take advantage of it.

Did someone say something about middleweight?? I wasn't aware.
I'm not saying you did. But Martinez is, in fact, the middleweight champ. He's also generally considered a P4P fighter. Sergio started at 147, Floyd at 130. That alone says a lot about their natural size disparity. You apparently want Mayweather to fight Martinez at 154, twenty-four pounds over Floyd's debut weight. Sergio would simply be coming down six pounds from where he's currently at, or seven pounds from where he started. You're unreasonably hard to please, at least in this particular case.
Salido fights entirely different from Broner. And "high rate" is a little strong. I don't think Yuri gets hit all that much, to be honest. I can point to the fact that Adrien had his hands full with slow, plodding, limited Ponce De Leon. Broner is taller and has better reach than Yuri. He likes to pot-shot, yet Gamboa did a much better job using the same method versus the same opponent. Adrien was lucky to get the nod versus Ponce; Yuri made it a sparring session. What conclusions are we to draw from that?

Dude, every time I watch Gamboa I'm worried. if Salido and some other guys can touch him at such a high rate, Broner will have a field day.
I'm not trying to say he sucks or anything, but he reminds me of Paul Williams in this respect.

Wait. You'll only give Floyd, who started his career at 130, credit if he fights the middleweight champ? Mayweather, at 35, is starting to show signs of age at 154, but you want him to take on a P4P middleweight in "Maravilla"? I'm sorry, Bush, but that's just asking for a liiiittle bit much.

If Broner can beat Gamboa, he shoots up the P4P list IMMEDIATELY. | BoxingScene Community
