these biased polls where there is no correct answer are retarded. sure you can say you love roy to death but thats it. he didnt just face fighters he knew he could beat and he didnt fight 90% cabdrivers. obviously hes not the goat either so there is really no answer.
rjj acctually had one of the best resumes in the last 20 years. its crazy how underrated his resume is.
hopkins, tarver, toney, hill, harding, r. johnson, mccallum, tate, griffin, castro etc..
excellent resume.
I chose option 2, simply because there weren't enough options and it was the closest one. I'd really be somewhere between options 1 and 2. I don't think he's the best ever, but I don't think he only fought opponents he knew he could beat (although I do believe he did a bit of that sort of activity).
Roy is the most talented fighter I have ever seen. Period.
And he could beat any fighter at his prime weights 160-175 in the history of the sport. Would he have taken the fight it the question.
Roy was the greatest entertainer in the ring that I have ever seen. But, it takes matches with other great fighters to make you great. Roy never fought other great fighters. Not completely his fault though. James Toney came in out of shape in their fight and Hopkins wasn't fully developed then. He didn't fight McClellan, Benn, Eubank, the german guy, or Terry Norris who wanted to fight him at MW. If he had fought at least 3 of those guys and won in an exciting style fight, I would rank him in the top 3 of all time. If he had fought all of them and won, he would be the greatest next to Ali, Robinson, and Leonard in my book.
when i read comments like this, i know there is hope for this forum. u know what ur talking about bro
